Job description

Description

Job Summary:

The Sales / Solution Engineer is the technical backbone of Salt River Connect's sales motion - turning the Salt River Connect Services Ecosystem into deployable, accurately priced, and defensible solutions for prospects and customers.

This role owns technical discovery, solution design, and proof-of-concept delivery across Communications, CX, Networking, Security, and SaaS & AI - pairing directly with SRC Sales & Operations to keep deals technically sound and moving from first call to signed SOW.

Requirements

Key Outcomes of the Role:

Success in this role looks like:

  • Technical objections don't stall deals - discovery and solution design keep pipeline moving
  • Proposals and SOWs are accurate, deliverable, and priced correctly the first time
  • Prospects understand the "why" behind the SRC Services Ecosystem before they see a number
  • Real product and integration gaps get surfaced to Product & Technology instead of discovered post-sale
  • Win rates on technical evaluations and demos are a recognized strength
  • Post-sale handoff to Operations & Support is clean, with no technical surprises

Sales Engineering Team Role:

Members of the Sales Engineering team:

  • Embody and reinforce the company's ASCEND principles (Accountable, Solutions-Oriented, Curious, Empowered, Nimble, Data-Driven)
  • Provide technical credibility by serving as the trusted technical voice in every deal, translating the SRC Services Ecosystem into solutions customers believe are real and deliverable
  • Own the translation of customer requirements into accurate, deployable, and correctly priced solutions across Communications, CX, Networking, Security, and AI
  • Remove technical friction and objections that stall deals, keeping pipeline moving from discovery to signed SOW
  • Partner with Account Executives and Growth & Marketing to keep the broader sales team technically sharp - through demos, playbooks, and a shared technical language

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Solution Design & Technical Sales Support

  • Partner with SRC Sales on technical discovery, needs assessment, and solution design across Communications, CX, Networking, Security, and AI
  • Lead technical demonstrations, proofs of concept, and platform walkthroughs for prospects
  • Translate customer requirements into accurate, deliverable solution architectures and pricing
  • Own technical responses to RFPs/RFIs and security or compliance questionnaires

Pre-Sales & Deal Execution

  • Participate directly in sales calls and customer meetings as the technical/solution authority
  • Build and present statements of work, network diagrams, and migration/cutover plans
  • Support pricing and proposal development in partnership with sales and product teams
  • Remove technical objections that stall deals - SIP trunking, POTS replacement, E911, dial-plan migration, M365 integration, and similar

Voice, Networking & Platform Expertise

  • Maintain deep working knowledge of the SRC Services Ecosystem, including the UC/CCaaS platform, networking, and security offerings
  • Stay current on SKUs, MRC pricing structures, and the commercial catalog to scope accurately
  • Serve as the technical bridge between customers and Product & Technology on feasibility, timelines, and constraints

Proof-of-Concept Feedback Loop

  • Capture and route real-world friction, product gaps, and integration issues back to Product & Technology
  • Validate that what is being sold is field-deployable, not just theoretically available in the catalog
  • Treat every SRC deal as a pressure test of the Reinvent partner experience before it reaches a partner

Post-Sale Handoff & Expansion

  • Ensure a clean technical handoff from sales to Operations & Support and provisioning
  • Identify expansion and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts based on technical fit
  • Support renewal conversations with technical validation of outcomes delivered

The above-cited duties and responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to the job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that an incumbent may be expected or asked to perform.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, business, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred
  • 3+ years in a sales engineering, solutions engineering, or technical pre-sales role
  • Experience in telecom, UCaaS/CCaaS, networking, or managed IT/MSP environments
  • Familiarity with SIP trunking, VoIP/UC, CX, and CCaaS platforms
  • Experience working directly alongside a sales team in a quota-influencing capacity

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong technical fluency across voice, networking, security, and SaaS/collaboration platforms
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into a clear, outcome-based narrative for non-technical buyers
  • Comfortable running discovery calls, demos, and technical Q&A independently
  • Detail-oriented - produces accurate SOWs, network diagrams, and pricing without heavy oversight
  • Collaborative, team player who works embedded with sales, not on the sidelines
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity given SRC's role as an evolving proof-of-concept environment
