Job description


ABM Industries is seeking a Project Manager to support the Electrical Power Services team. This position is responsible for the planning, execution, financial performance, and successful completion of electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, engineering, and power systems projects.
The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers and is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role collaborates with operations leadership, project coordinators, field supervisors, testing personnel, commissioning personnel, subcontractors, and customers to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
• Manage the full lifecycle of electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, and engineering services projects from initiation through closeout.
• Develop project execution plans, schedules, staffing strategies, and resource requirements.
• Monitor project budgets, labor utilization, schedules, and overall project performance.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Facilitate project kickoff meetings and establish project objectives and expectations with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate project staffing and equipment requirements with operations leadership, project coordinators, and field supervisors.
• Review project activity reports, testing documentation, commissioning reports, and project deliverables for quality and completeness.
• Manage customer relationships and serve as the primary customer contact throughout project execution.
• Communicate project status, schedule updates, scope changes, and project deliverables to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Support business development efforts through customer engagement, proposal support, site visits, and project reviews.
• Identify, document, and manage change orders, scope modifications, and project risks.
• Review and approve subcontractor invoices and project-related expenditures.
• Support project billing, invoicing, collections, and financial forecasting activities.
• Coordinate project closeout activities, documentation, and customer turnover requirements.
• Promote compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E requirements, customer safety standards, and company policies.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and operational performance.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, field service, utility operations, industrial maintenance, power systems, engineering services, or related industries.
• Experience managing customer-facing projects and technical field service operations.
• Strong understanding of electrical power systems, testing services, commissioning activities, and field operations.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and project financial oversight.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel as required to support customer and project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
• 7 or more years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, engineering services, utility operations, or related power systems industries.
• Experience supporting NETA testing projects, commissioning projects, protection and controls projects, or utility services.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management training.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and field service teams.
• Familiarity with:
o NETA standards
o NFPA 70E
o OSHA regulations
o Utility and industrial power systems
o Electrical safety practices
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull project materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc-flash and electrical safety equipment, when visiting project sites.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and outage schedules as required to support project execution and customer requirements.
