The Company

GCS Group is one of Alberta's active telecom HDD contractors, known for running tight crews, demanding high standards, and delivering quality underground installations. Our projects are fast-paced and technically demanding, and our Senior Drillers are the backbone of every successful bore. We're hiring one now.

The Position

As a Senior HDD Driller, you own the rig. You're responsible for planning and executing bores from pilot hole to pullback, managing your crew, and making the experienced calls that keep the project moving. You know Ditch Witch equipment inside and out, you understand ground conditions, and you work seamlessly with your locating team to put a quality bore in every time.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute all phases of HDD bores on telecom installations
  • Operate Ditch Witch drill rigs with full autonomy across varied soil profiles
  • Direct real-time communication with SubSite locate operators throughout each bore
  • Oversee rig setup, fluid management, and tooling selection
  • Manage crew assignments, equipment readiness, and on-site problem resolution
  • Maintain thorough bore documentation and project reporting
  • Ensure strict compliance with ground disturbance and site safety requirements
