Overview

Our customer, a leading utility construction and infrastructure provider, is hiring a Design Supervisor to support telecom engineering projects in Northern Virginia or Stafford, VA. This role is responsible for managing daily design activities, supervising design resources, and ensuring timely, accurate delivery of telecom design packages that meet permitting and construction requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Manage and direct technical design activities supporting telecom engineering projects

  • Supervise and prioritize daily work for a team of telecom designers
  • Ensure detailed design drawings are completed accurately and delivered on schedule
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for design teammates
  • Review and guide overhead and underground telecom designs to align with permitting and construction needs
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to support overall project completion
  • Communicate design progress, risks, and milestones to internal and external partners
  • Promote collaboration and best practices across design and project teams
  • All other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Prior hands-on experience creating telecom engineering drawings that include permitting and construction requirements

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing overhead and underground telecommunications design
  • Proven supervisory experience involving project prioritization and workforce planning
  • Strong understanding of how telecom designs translate to field construction
  • Working knowledge of telecom design software, including AutoCAD
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising teams of 5 or more designers
  • Knowledge of local municipal permitting requirements (right-of-way and/or environmental)
  • Understanding of underground and overhead construction operations for telecom, broadband, or fiber infrastructure
  • Exposure to GIS, right-of-way acquisition, and/or surveying processes
  • Experience with ArcGIS, MicroStation, or similar design tools


Work Environment / Additional Information

  • Based in Northern Virginia (Fairfax area) or Stafford, VA
  • Flexibility to train or collaborate with teams in Stafford
  • Expect periodic travel to regional offices (approximately once per week depending on base location)
