Is 30 too late for data science?

For a Telecom Data Analyst, starting a career in data science at age 30 is feasible, especially with relevant skills like programming, statistics, and experience with tools such as SQL or Python. Many professionals transition into data roles later in their careers, and continuous learning through certifications or online courses can enhance prospects. Age is less a barrier than skills, experience, and ongoing education in the field.

What is the role of a telecom data analyst?

A telecom data analyst collects, analyzes, and interprets data related to telecommunications networks and services to identify trends, optimize performance, and support decision-making. They often use tools like SQL, Excel, and data visualization software, and require strong analytical skills and knowledge of telecom systems. Their work helps improve network efficiency and customer experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Telecom Data Analyst position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Telecom Data Analyst, you need a strong background in data analysis, statistical methods, and telecommunications concepts, often supported by a relevant degree in computer science, mathematics, or engineering. Familiarity with data analysis tools like SQL, Python, R, and telecom-specific platforms such as OSS/BSS systems, along with certifications such as Certified Data Analyst or relevant vendor credentials, is highly valuable. Effective communication, analytical thinking, and attention to detail are essential soft skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and translating data insights into actionable strategies. These capabilities are critical for optimizing network performance, identifying trends, and supporting data-driven decision-making in the fast-evolving telecom industry.

Is AI replacing data analysts?

AI is transforming the role of Telecom Data Analysts by automating routine data processing and analysis tasks, allowing analysts to focus on more strategic insights. While AI tools can handle large datasets efficiently, human expertise remains essential for interpreting complex patterns, making decisions, and ensuring data quality. The role continues to evolve with skills in machine learning, data visualization, and programming becoming increasingly valuable.

What is a Telecom Data Analyst job?

A Telecom Data Analyst analyzes and interprets large datasets related to telecommunications networks, customer usage, and operational performance. They use data mining, statistical analysis, and visualization tools to identify trends, optimize network performance, and support business decisions. Their role may involve working with big data platforms, SQL, Python, or other analytics tools to extract insights. Additionally, they collaborate with engineers, business teams, and stakeholders to improve service efficiency and customer experience.

What is the highest salary in telecom?

The highest salaries for Telecom Data Analysts can reach over $100,000 annually, especially for those with extensive experience, advanced skills in data analysis tools, and certifications. Senior roles or positions in large companies or specialized areas like network optimization tend to offer the highest compensation.

You might collaborate closely with engineers, IT specialists, and business analysts to improve network efficiency, solve issues, or support new projects. Many analysts also participate in regular meetings to discuss findings and recommend actionable changes based on data-driven insights. Job description

Job Type
Full-time
Description
The successful candidate will be located in the Savannah (preferred) or Bluffton, SC area. Unable to sponsor.
Why This Role Matters
Clearwave Fiber doesn't expand by gut feel or guesswork. Every new market we enter represents millions of dollars in capital investment, years of operational commitment, and long-term community impact.
The Market Strategy Analyst sits at the center of those decisions.
This role identifies where we build next, why it makes financial sense, and how we win. Your analysis directly informs executive go/no-go decisions, shapes network expansion strategy, and influences the deployment of capital across our footprint.
If you want your work to matter - visibly, financially, and strategically - this is it.
What You'll Own:
Market Intelligence & Decision Support
  • Lead data-driven evaluations of prospective broadband markets using demographic, competitive, infrastructure, and economic data.
  • Build and maintain market scoring models that assess competition, density, income levels, construction feasibility, and return potential.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear recommendations executives can act on.

Financial & Expansion Modeling
  • Develop high-level financial and operational models to evaluate new market builds, network extensions, and strategic expansion initiatives.
  • Partner with engineering and construction teams to incorporate desktop cost estimates, competitive ride-outs, and preliminary designs into market feasibility.
  • Support capital allocation decisions tied to multi-million-dollar infrastructure investments.

Strategic Market Screening
  • Proactively identify, screen, and rank potential markets based on pre-established and evolving criteria.
  • Produce feasibility studies, SWOT analyses, and go/no-go recommendations for leadership.
  • Track trends in fiber deployment, competitor behavior, regulatory shifts, and local economic indicators that impact expansion strategy.

Executive Communication
  • Prepare investment memoranda, dashboards, and executive-level presentations for senior leadership.
  • Clearly communicate risks, assumptions, and upside potential - not just the data behind them.
  • Serve as a trusted analytical partner to Market Expansion, Finance, Engineering, and Sales leadership.

What Success Looks Like
  • Leadership trusts your analysis when deciding where to spend and where to walk away.
  • Markets are entered with confidence, not surprises.
  • Expansion decisions are faster, smarter, and better aligned to Clearwave's long-term growth goals.
  • Your work directly influences revenue growth, network footprint, and competitive advantage.

Requirements
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business, Market Research, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in market analysis, strategy, finance, or data-driven roles (telecom, broadband, infrastructure, or utilities strongly preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with GIS tools, FCC Broadband data, and data visualization platforms (Power BI or similar).
  • Strong analytical judgment - you can work independently and defend your conclusions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leaders.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and imperfect data.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site market assessments.

Why Clearwave Fiber
  • High-growth fiber company with aggressive expansion goals
  • Direct visibility to senior leadership
  • Real influence over strategy and capital deployment
  • Work that leaves a lasting footprint in the communities we serve

Benefits:
Clearwave Fiber appreciates the role our associates play to help the company grow, and in return an excellent benefits package is offered to our associates to recognize the importance of their contributions such as:

  • Life insurance (self, spouse, children)
  • Paid Time Off
  • 401(k) - 100% company match (vesting and matching starts upon hire, up to 4% of eligible compensation)
  • Employee Assistance Plan
  • Employee Referral Plan

Additional Perks
  • Free services, if living within service area
  • Tuition reimbursement - Clearwave Fiber encourages staff members to pursue ongoing education and gain industry certifications
  • LinkedIn Learning
  • Associate recognition program
  • Advancement opportunities
  • Collaborative work environment
