Job description

Account Executive | In-office | Anchorage, AK

A proud 2026 Inc. โ€œBest Places to Workโ€ recipient!

Thompson & Co. Public Relations is hiring an Account Executive to join our Anchorage team. Weโ€™re one of Alaskaโ€™s largest and most respected PR agencies, with more than 25 years of experience helping clients across travel and tourism, telecommunications, resource development, nonprofi ts, education, and state and local governments tell their stories and make an impact.

Weโ€™re a tightโ€‘knit crew that believes good work happens when people genuinely enjoy who they work with. Many of our team members have been here a decade or more, and theyโ€™ll tell you our culture is the reason. That commitment to our people has earned us recognition as a Forbes โ€œAgency of the Yearโ€ (2021), a PR News โ€œBest Place to Workโ€ (2020), and, most recently, a 2026 Inc. โ€œBest Places to Workโ€ recipient.

If youโ€™re a strong communicator who thrives in a fastโ€‘moving environment, loves variety, and wants to build a career doing meaningful work in Alaska, weโ€™d love to hear from you.

What youโ€™ll do

No two days at T&C look the same. As an Account Executive, youโ€™ll work alongside a collaborative team to support a diverse roster of clients with everything from dayโ€‘toโ€‘day communications to highโ€‘profile events. Your work will include:

  • Supporting clients across a wide range of industries with strategy, storytelling, and execution.
  • Coordinating events, from press conferences to rallies to trips across rural Alaska.
  • Developing content for social media, publications, and media outreach.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local, state, and national journalists, and influencers to include members of the business community. Monitoring media across print, broadcast, digital, and social channels for client opportunities.
  • Writing compelling press materials, pitches, and other client content.
  • Supporting photo shoots, press trips, and editorial briefings.
  • Helping manage client communications calendars and deliverables.
What you bring to the table

We care more about how you think and communicate than whether your resume checks every box. Strong candidates will bring a combination of the following:

  • A background in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field, whether through a degree, work experience, or both.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in PR, communications, or a closely related field; agency experience is a plus!
  • Strong writing skills and comfort working across a range of formats and audiences.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and an instinct for what resonates online.
  • Experience pitching media and building or managing press lists.
  • The ability to juggle multiple projects, stay organized, and meet deadlines without losing the details.
  • Creative thinking and problemโ€‘solving, with confidence working independently when needed.
  • Experience in or knowledge of travel/tourism, education, telecom, healthcare, public affairs, or government is a genuine advantage.
A few more things you should know

We welcome candidates whose experience comes from outside the traditional PR path. If youโ€™ve worked in journalism, policy, government communications, or another creative or publicโ€‘facing field, your perspective may be exactly what weโ€™re looking for.

  • This role has real room to grow. T&C is an active, expanding agency, and the people who thrive here tend to take ownership of their work and bring energy to the team. We nurture talent and aim to promote from within.
  • Weโ€™re based in Anchorage, and we love Alaska. Passion for this state and its communities is a must. This includes responsible resource development and the stateโ€™s main economic drivers, such as oil and gas, tourism, fisheries, mining, etc.

Salary: $65,000 โ€“ $70,000 per year, based on experience. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, paid parental leave, three weeks paid vacation, paid holidays, and remote work Fridays.

*Available upon meeting applicable eligibility and/or lengthโ€‘ofโ€‘service requirements.
