Job description

Server - Ka'teen

Job Summary: Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving the guests in a friendly and efficient manner. You'll play an integral role in ensuring our customers have exceptional dining experiences. Servers are passionate about food and service and thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for guests. Almost every task falls within your skillset as a server, and you are ultimately responsible for your station. Our servers need to be experts in our food and beverage service and you'll need to bring our menus to life with appealing descriptions including preparation, ingredients and cooking methods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent, friendly, courteous, and professional service to all internal and external guests, in every interaction.
  • Maintain and ensure the overall cleanliness and safety of work area/assigned station and the establishment.
  • Provide service to and be accountable for an assigned station and section.
  • Anticipates guests needs when required.
  • Respond to guests requests in an accurate and timely manner, creating a positive outcome that will result in a memorable experience.
  • Proper handling of VIPs, recognize repeat guests, and protect their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Perform accurate cash/credit handling and POS procedures in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge about surroundings, i.e. nearby entertainment, theaters, etc.
  • Greet guests upon them sitting in your assigned section.
  • Provide guests a complete introduction and a menu tour.
  • Take all guests orders in a timely manner, always writing them down.
  • Mark all of your tables with the appropriate settings for dishes as it applies.
  • Maintain the quality of the food, beverages, and restaurant by performing frequent checks.
  • Assist in bussing, cleaning, and resetting the bar top when appropriate.
  • Keep beverages filled for guests.
  • At the conclusion of the guests' meals, drop the check and process payment when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years previous high-end restaurant or hotel restaurant experience
  • California Food Handlers Certification
  • Experience with food and wine pairing
  • Must have the ability to carry large trays of drinks and food and have the ability to organize multiple orders, always being attentive.
  • Maintain a high level of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and late hours.
  • Must have the ability to report to work on time and when scheduled.
  • Must have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to behave at all times based on a guest responsive culture where exceptional guest service prevails.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess excellent phone skills and be guest service oriented and proactive.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor and composure at all times.
  • Ability to be friendly, engaging, gracious, and the ability to focus and connect with all guests and team members and exceed their expectations.
  • Have an upbeat, energetic, authentic, and positive attitude.
  • Know how to participate in a team environment and assist other departments when needed, providing lateral service.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
  • Requires grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
