Summary/Objective
This position works in the teen services area and provides circulation, reference services and assistance to library patrons.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists patrons in locating items and use of teen materials.
- Assists with maintenance of the youth services area, including straightening, shelving materials, shelf reading, and collection related projects.
- Assists patrons with checking out and setting up gaming systems and board games.
- Monitors and assists with youth computers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May work at other public service desks.
- May assist with special projects and preparation of displays.
- Participates in department and library meetings.
- Assists with closing of the library as needed.
- May assist with youth programming.

- Ability to:
- Utilize good organization, communication and customer service skills.
- Communicate clearly and effectively.
- Work cooperatively with public and library staff.
- Adapt to changing and evolving Library procedures, priorities and information technologies.
- Work independently and be self-directed.
- Must have basic knowledge of operation of computers and be able to perform basic computer operations.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, photocopiers, cash registers, credit card machines, etc.

- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching and stooping to select and shelve library materials.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position Monday through Thursday 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm; every other weekend Saturday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Sunday 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous library experience helpful.
- Previous clerical and/or public service experience.
- Previous experience working with teens preferred.
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.
High degree of customer service skills to work with patrons of all ages including special needs patrons.
