Job description

Additional Information About the Role

t. Louis Children's Hospital's Child Life department is seeking a PRN Certified Music Therapist to join our team to help meet the needs of medically ill children and teens, as well as provide music therapy to groups of patients in our Pediatric Behavioral Health Unit who are here for mental health/behavioral health reasons.

Hours would typically be from 8:30am - 5pm. Weekdays only, no weekends

Responsible for organizing and implementing a music therapy program to address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of patients. The systematic application of music in a therapeutic environment will be used to promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, and improve communication.

Responsibilities

  • Uses music therapy as a process that combines the verbally transcendent and emotionally authentic aspects of music with the needs of the patient.
  • Serves as a resource person and guide providing musical experiences that will aid in patient care.
  • Designs and conducts music sessions for individuals and groups, based on client needs.
  • Coordinates therapy with other team members and shares response to music therapy intervention.
  • Minimum Requirements
