Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) provides comprehensive healthcare services to individuals recovering from substance use disorders. The APN collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based treatments, psychiatric care, and holistic recovery support. This role emphasizes patient-centered care, harm reduction, and relapse prevention while promoting long-term wellness.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Passion for faith-based addiction recovery and alignment with the mission of Adult & Teen Challenge.
โ€ข Master's or Doctorate in Nursing (MSN/DNP) with board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
โ€ข Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the practicing state.
โ€ข Certification in Addiction Nursing (CARN-AP) preferred.
โ€ข DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
โ€ข Experience in addiction medicine, mental health, or primary care preferred.
โ€ข Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
โ€ข Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
โ€ข Willingness to work evening or weekend shifts to accommodate patient needs.
โ€ข Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile.
โ€ข Must be able to pass drug and nicotine test.
Competencies:
  • Work effectively with culturally diverse population and be sensitive to the needs of each population.
  • Communicate compassionately and effectively with clients, health care professionals, and the general public.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and treating substance use disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Understanding of addiction as a chronic disease and ability to apply trauma-informed care principles.
  • Competency in motivational interviewing and other behavioral interventions to support recovery.
  • Expertise in prescribing, titrating, and monitoring medications used in addiction treatment.
  • Knowledge of potential drug interactions, contraindications, and side effects.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing addiction treatment, including HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and DEA guidelines.
  • Effective documentation skills.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Physically able to walk, stand, and stoop for several hours each day.
  • Employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments.
  • Evaluate withdrawal symptoms and determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Monitor patients for medication effectiveness and potential side effects.
  • Adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and response.
  • Provide brief counseling and psychoeducation on addiction, relapse prevention, and coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with therapists, counselors, and social workers to integrate behavioral health interventions.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state regulations regarding controlled substances and addiction treatment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Other duties as assigned.
