Who You Are:

The Panel Shop Buyer is an entry level position responsible for purchasing and expediting materials required for the assembly of UL508 industrial control panels. This role works closely with engineering, production, and project management to ensure accurate, cost-effective, and on-time procurement of electrical components and hardware needed to meet production schedules.

Requirements:

What You’ll Do:

  • Review Bills of Material (BOMs) and generate purchase orders for panel builds
  • Procure electrical components including:
  • PLCs
  • HMIs
  • VFDs
  • Breakers
  • Contactors, relays, overloads
  • Terminals, wire, duct
  • Enclosures
  • Panel hardware
  • Monitor supplier lead times and proactively expedite critical items
  • Communicate material shortages and risks to production and project teams
  • Maintain accurate pricing, lead times, and vendor records in ERP/MRP system
  • Coordinate with engineering on part substitutions, revisions, and obsolescence
  • Ensure all materials meet UL508A requirements and project specifications
  • Support inventory control efforts:
  • Maintain min/max inventory levels to support accurate stock control.
  • Assist with cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Reduce excess and obsolete stock through ongoing review and cleanup.
  • Track open orders and follow through to delivery and receipt
  • Assist with job costing and quoting by obtaining vendor pricing
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative sourcing options

No previous experience is required for this position but relevant experience is a plus.
