CNO Financial Group's IT Team is hiring a VP, Chief Technology Officer who is responsible for leading CNO's technology strategy, infrastructure, and modernization initiatives to support business growth, innovation, and operational excellence. The role oversees enterprise infrastructure, cloud and platform services, data center and mainframe operations, end-user technology, and the adoption of AI and intelligent automation to improve efficiency and enhance business outcomes. The VP, CTO is accountable for technology operations, service management, vendor and sourcing strategies, financial performance, and technology governance, ensuring secure, reliable, and cost-effective technology services that support the organization's strategic objectives.

Core responsibilities and deliverables:

  • Develop and execute the enterprise technology strategy, including infrastructure, cloud, and platform modernization initiatives.

  • Lead the adoption of AI, intelligent automation, and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.

  • Oversee enterprise infrastructure, end-user services, technology operations, and service management to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing technology services.

  • Drive infrastructure transformation efforts, including cloud migration, legacy platform modernization, disaster recovery, and technical debt reduction.

  • Lead strategic vendor, managed service provider, and offshore delivery relationships, including sourcing, contract negotiations, service level and outcome commitments, performance management, and cost optimization.

  • Ensure effective technology governance, security, compliance, and operational excellence across the technology organization.

  • Manage technology budgets, financial planning, forecasting, and the performance of significant technology investments.

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to align technology capabilities, priorities, and services with enterprise objectives.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What you'll need (Minimum requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or related discipline.

  • 15 years of leadership experience in leading/managing cross-functional teams, including offshore teams, to deliver large-scale transformations and initiatives on time and within budget.

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing technology strategies in a complex organization.

  • Proven experience leading an infrastructure organization or a broader IT organization that includes infrastructure functions such as mainframe, end user, and data center technologies.

  • The ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.

  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across the organization.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value for executive and non-technical audiences.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or related discipline.

  • Experience leveraging AI technologies to drive operational efficiency, automation, and transformation within infrastructure or IT organizations.

  • Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, end-user technology, networks, and legacy platform modernization.

The stated pay range is based on a national-average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is also eligible for CNO's performance-based annual bonus program.

Pay Range: $254,200.00 - $381,400.00 Annual
