Job description

Eversource will not offer immigration-related sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B, O-1, J-1, TN, E-3, etc.). Applicants requiring visa sponsorship to start employment with Eversource will not be considered.

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to workat least three days in the office, includingTuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to workup to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment in this position. Eversource will not sponsor candidates for work visas for this position.

A Solution Architect designs comprehensive technical solutions to meet business goals, acting as the bridge between stakeholders and development teams. They analyze requirements, define system structures, select technologies, and oversee implementation to ensure security, scalability, and adherence to budget and strategic goals.

Role and Scope of Position:

Designs and implements architecture that will meet business needs. The solution architect’s responsibilities include gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing the current solution in place to identify areas in need of improvement, and overseeing development teams. Regularly update the company on any developments in systems architecture projects. Responsible for integrating any updated specifications and requirements into the systems architecture and explain complex problems to management in layman’s terms.

Essential Functions:
  • Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include RFPs or prototype development), selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
  • Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with other architects and engineers in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
  • Champions a structured approach to business application solutions from a selection, implementation and development perspective
  • Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions.
  • Influences changes to standards when necessary. (Works with Enterprise Architecture team developing Standards)
  • Directs the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Design and support solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
  • Assesses the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
  • Provides guidance to development teams. (Works with PMO to create project Teams)
  • Continually researches current and emerging technologies and proposes changes where needed.
  • Informs various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented.
  • Assesses the business impact that certain technical choices have in the overall landscape at Eversource
  • Provides updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications: Technical Knowledge/Skill:
  • Strong oral and written communication, including speaking to Business and IT Leadership, translating technical details to non-technical audience.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education and work experience
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience related to IT Management or other information technology solutions architecture role
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience related to SAP architecture (S4 or SAP RISE preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs
Licenses & Certifications:
  • AZ-900 preferred
  • Technology Fundamentals for SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business Suite preferred
  • SAP Certified Application Associate - Solution Architect for CX preferred
Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
