Summary
The IT Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex software development and infrastructure projects within SOM's Office of Technology. The role focuses on building and managing technical workflows, enforcing project standards, and automating key operational tasks. The position reports to the Office of Technology Leadership and works closely with other teams and stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities
  • Leads the end-to-end delivery of software development and infrastructure initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Translates business requirements into technical controls and maintains project backlogs for product development.
  • Manages and monitors project schedules, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Reviews, maintains, and creates operational and procedural documentation including; standards, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and tool configurations.
  • Coordinates with infrastructure and engineering teams to ensure that secure configuration standards are applied across services.
  • Implements and refines project management methodologies to optimize team efficiency.
  • Contributes to defining the technical scope of projects and identifying risks in system design or operations.
  • Promotes a collaborative mindset among peers and across technical teams.
  • Provides reporting and metrics on the project portfolio for executive sponsors and firm leadership on a regular basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of team objectives.

Leadership
  • In collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and leadership - contributes to a clear and consistent work plan to achieve the project budget, deliverables, and schedule.
  • Actively engages with and manages stakeholders relationships - supports team members with stakeholder management.
  • Actively engages in internal professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of direct project management experience in software and infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and product development processes.
  • Proficient in project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, Linear, etc) and familiar with scripting/automation tools such as Git or Python.
  • Skilled in technical documentation and standard operating procedure development.
  • Clear and direct communicator, able to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently within defined objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
  • Experience in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction firms.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or other advanced Agile certification
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and managing cloud-native infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with information security and risk management frameworks
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-code and DevOps best practices
  • Experience leading projects focused on data management, data warehousing, or business intelligence
