Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Division of Information Technology Services with Cybersecurity and IT Operations on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Students in this role will gain highly marketable skills in log analysis, incident triage, security policy development, enterprise IT support, technology testing, and service delivery. Through hands-on involvement with Cyber Security and IT Operations initiatives, students will develop technical, analytical, and professional skills that are highly valued in cybersecurity and information technology careers.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
  • Technology Monitoring & Support: Assists with monitoring technology systems, reviewing alerts, and helping IT staff identify and respond to operational and security-related issues
  • Email Security & Account Protection: Supports efforts to protect university accounts and information by assisting with email security reviews and user-reported incidents
  • Technology Assessment & System Support: Assists IT and Cyber Security staff with routine system reviews, technology assessments, asset management activities, and other efforts that help maintain a secure and reliable technology environment
  • Documentation & Compliance Support: Assists with the review, organization, and maintenance of technology-related procedures, documentation, and compliance activities.
  • Technology Awareness & Communication: Supports the development and distribution of informational materials related to cybersecurity, technology services, and IT initiatives
  • IT Operations Support: Assists IT leadership with operational tasks, service delivery activities, technology initiatives, special projects, and other efforts that support university technology services.
  • Provides support for special projects in Cyber Security and IT Operations

Shift Specifics
  • Up to 25 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Shifts available Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM

Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Proposed Salary
$10.00 per hour
