About the Practice:

The physicians of Heaton Eye Associates have been serving East Texas’ vision needs for over 40 years. We offer state-of-the-art technology with special services ranging from primary eye care to world-class laser surgery. Our physicians were the first to offer LASIK laser vision correction in East Texas and have performed tens of thousands of procedures since its inception. Heaton Eye offers a wide range of premium lenses including Symfony Extended Depth of Focus lenses, PanOptix® lenses, and Vivity® lenses to offer freedom from glasses and contacts after cataract surgery. Our surgeons were the first in East Texas to offer the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, the only lens implant that allows patients to preview and adjust their vision after cataract surgery. We are the first and only practice in the area offering EVO ICL, another exciting option offering patients freedom from contacts and glasses. Additionally, we have the only fellowship-trained Pediatric Specialist as well as the only Oculoplastic Surgeon offering cosmetic, medical, and reconstructive surgery as well as state-of-the-art aesthetic services in the area. Our East Texas locations in Tyler, Longview and Athens offer year-round activities the entire family can enjoy. In Longview, you can experience Texas' rich history and culture. Job Summary and Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for daily operations of the Clinic and coordinate tech coverage for our all locations as needed.

Certifications/Licensures:

Preferred COA or medical office management

Experience: 

Preferred 2 years previous ophthalmic or optometric patient care or medical office

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Associates degree

Qualification and Skills:

Performance Standards/Responsibility:

  • Provide Technical Support for daily operations
  • Monitor patient flow/tech calls for each doctor and direct tech coverage as needed
  • Monitor potential problem areas in the clinic schedule by looking ahead 2 - 3 days at the clinic schedule and patient/doctor needs. 
  • Communicate any areas of concern to the appropriate scheduling staff/manager
  • When doctor schedules changes occur review the schedule to determine the impact on the clinic/technicians to avoid potential problem areas if any
  • Input on template set up to coordinate efficient clinic flow
  • Work with Clinic Operation Manager to devise and implement changes to the tech work area/processes, as needed to ensure quality patient care and clinic flow
  • The Lead Tech will work in the lanes daily as a "floater" type position to ensure proper clinic flow. Scribing/Special Testing/Tech Calls and moving patients
  • Contact persons for work in appointments, emergencies, and patient concerns. 
  • Input on all technician reviews
  • Counsel technicians as needed regarding daily work processes
  • Input on hiring/firing/training of all tech staff
  • Assist coordinating training for new tech/scribes
  • Assist coordination of C.E. for Techs/Scribes
