Job description

About Us:
Zensurance is redefining commercial insurance for Canadian businesses.

As a leading InsurTech, we make getting the right coverage simple, fast, and accessible through a digital-first experience. Our platform combines advanced technology with deep industry expertise to deliver tailored insurance solutions that help businesses thrive.

Zensurance has been recognized for its rapid growth and industry impact:

Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 (2023, 2024, 2025)
Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 (2024, 2025)
Top Insurance Employers (2022)

At Zensurance, we value ownership, collaboration, and innovation. Our team thrives on solving complex challenges, challenging the status quo, and making a real impact in an industry ready for change.

If you're looking to build something meaningful in a fast-growing, customer-focused company, we'd love to hear from you!

Here at Zensurance, we have built a comprehensive internal software platform that manages the entire lifecycle of commercial insurance, including online quoting, pricing and rating engines, document generation, user portals, and renewals. This custom solution supports diverse use cases for all key stakeholders, from customers and brokers to underwriters, carriers, and claims teams.

While the platform utilizes PostgreSQL as its primary source of truth, it seamlessly integrates with a robust ecosystem of third-party SaaS applications. This includes a heavily customized Salesforce instance for broker management and Zendesk for ticketing, alongside a long tail of integrations spanning payment gateways, ERPs, marketing CRMs, automation tools, and telephony systems.

We're looking for a Staff Software Developer - Integration to join our Engineering Team! Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role will own integrations design and strategy, including Salesforce and its neighbours as production distributed systems.

This is a remote-first role within Canada. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities:
System & Data Architecture
  • Architect the end-to-end integration and data strategy for Salesforce and its connected production distributed systems.

  • Define data ownership, entity shapes, and single sources of truth across platforms using Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs).

  • Partner with core engineering teams to align system boundaries and architectural standards.

Integration Engineering & Infrastructure

  • Design high-scale integration patterns focused on retries, idempotency, reconciliation, and deep observability.

  • Replace brittle, no-code integrations (like Zapier) with robust, engineered, code-based solutions.

  • Implement Enterprise Best Practices.

  • Leverage deep Salesforce expertise to develop sophisticated, code-driven integrations rather than standard administrative configurations.

Change Management & Technical Leadership

  • Establish a robust CI/CD pipeline for integration management, prioritizing configuration-as-code over manual, "click-based" changes in production environments.

  • Partner closely with IT, Product, and various business stakeholders to ensure seamless change management and alignment with broader business goals.

  • Serve as the guiding authority on modern integration technologies, strategies, and enterprise-grade software engineering practices.

Qualifications:
  • Hands-on Salesforce platform experience in a complex custom-object environment.

  • Production TypeScript experience.

  • Relational database experience (Postgres).

  • Experience building integrations between Salesforce and external systems.

  • Practical distributed-systems experience: idempotency, retries, dead-lettering, backfills, reconciliation, eventual consistency.

  • Practical experience with integration technologies: REST, SOAP, Webhooks.

  • Strong relational data modeling/ERD design; comfortable with Postgres or equivalent.

  • Has built observability around integrations: metrics, alerts, dashboards, runbooks.

  • Salesforce metadata in source control + CI/CD (scratch orgs, sandboxes, deployment automation).

  • Operating credibly at staff/lead level alongside a software engineering organization.

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Salesforce as an operational/domain platform, not only as a sales CRM.

  • Experience with integrating with different enterprise systems: Zendesk, SAP, Stripe, etc.

  • Insurance, brokerage, fintech, or other regulated/workflow-heavy industries.

  • NestJS experience.

  • Experience replacing no-code/Zapier flows with engineered integrations.

  • Event-driven architecture, message queues, webhook infrastructure.

$155,000 - $180,000 a year

The salary range for this role is $155,000 to $180,000, not including the annual discretionary bonus and any additional performance-based incentives.

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees may also be eligible for performance-based case incentive awards.
