Job description

Overview
At Microsoft Quantum, we aim to empower science and scientists to solve the world's biggest problems by realizing advanced computing platforms at the intersection of high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and quantum information technology. Microsoft Quantum will change the world of computing and help solve some of humankind's currently unsolvable problems. For more information about our team, visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/quantum.
Microsoft Quantum is building the world's first scalable quantum computing system, with a full-stack approach spanning materials, devices, systems, and cloud services. Our hardware strategy is centered on topological qubits, which require sophisticated nanofabrication of hybrid semiconductor-superconductor devices with stringent control of interfaces, materials quality, and process integration.
We are seeking a Principal Quantum Integration Manager to lead the process integration and experimental coordination across quantum materials, fabrication, and device development. This role is responsible for ensuring that innovations across materials growth, nanofabrication, and device design are translated into robust, scalable, and reproducible integrated qubit technologies.
As a manager, you will own the integration strategy across multiple programs, lead a team of engineers and scientists, and drive execution across cross-functional efforts to deliver measurable improvements in qubit performance and manufacturability.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
  • Organizational Leadership & Capability Building: Build, lead, and scale a process integration team supporting quantum materials and device development; Set technical direction, priorities, and execution plans aligned with program milestones; Coach and develop talent, establishing a culture of rigor, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration; Drive hiring and organizational growth to meet increasing integration complexity

  • Process Integration Strategy & Ownership: Define and own the end-to-end integration strategy across materials growth and characterization, device fabrication and process flows, electrical characterization and feedback loops; Ensure alignment between process modules (epitaxy, lithography, etch, deposition, packaging) and device/system requirements; Establish and enforce best practices for process integration, yield improvement, and reproducibility

  • Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Lead coordination across materials, fabrication, measurement, and device design teams to converge on optimized process stacks; Translate experimental and process data into actionable decisions that improve qubit performance; Drive tradeoff decisions across process complexity, performance, and scalability; Influence roadmap and architecture through integration-driven insights

  • Experimental Program Execution: Oversee large-scale experimental campaigns that integrate materials, process, and device optimization; Drive structured experimentation, including DOE (design of experiments) frameworks, statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making, and root-cause analysis of performance variability; Ensure delivery against critical program milestones and integration readiness gates

  • Infrastructure, Tooling & AI Enablement: Drive development of integration infrastructure, including process tracking, data pipelines, and feedback loops: Lead adoption of AI/automation to accelerate: process optimization, data analysis and correlation across process steps, and knowledge management across integration flows.

  • Program & Stakeholder Leadership: Own execution across multiple concurrent integration efforts, aligning priorities across teams; Communicate program progress, risks, and tradeoffs to leadership; Partner with internal and external fabrication partners to ensure process scalability and transferability

  • Other

    • Embody our culture and values.
