Job description

Purpose

Duties include engineering, deploying and supporting IT production networks and related systems within both industrial and conventional datacenter environments. The IT Infrastructure Engineer III will act as an expert technical resource and a mentor for other team members. The engineer will also originate, manage, execute IT Technology Infrastructure projects, at production facilities, collaborating with both the IT Infrastructure team and external contractors to successfully execute projects in support of company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to company safety and environmental standards while modeling core values
  • Coach, mentor, and support on-site IT Operations Technicians, more junior IT Infrastructure engineers, and other plant operations staff
  • Manage and support IT Infrastructure capital project efforts as the technical lead and/or project manager as required
  • Support the planning, management, and execution of the IT infrastructure portion of large-scale multi team strategic projects
  • Engineer, deploy and support network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless, video cameras and other related equipment.
  • Engineer, deploy and support Infrastructure as Code and RMM software, implementing proactive automation of IT administrative tasks.
  • Engineer, deploy and support systems infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, storage and backup systems, and infrastructure related software
  • Analyze and develop technical solutions to integrate state of the art technology, hardware, and software components into the manufacturing production environment; acting as a technical architect
  • Provide business hours and on-call support for mills and corporate IT team for all escalated production infrastructure issues and requests, acting as the highest-level subject matter expert for complex technical network or systems issues
  • Design production IT infrastructure in collaboration with the IT Infrastructure Engineering team
  • Provide specifications and manage procurement of infrastructure equipment and components
  • Monitor field work to ensure quality and provide feedback to improve future projects
  • Conduct system analysis and site surveys as required using appropriate analysis models and tools

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience managing IT projects from planning through implementation
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts and issues to a non-technical audience
  • Strong technical, planning/organizational, and execution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to excel as both a leader and a collaborative team member, adapting to various roles as required by the situation
  • Proficient in infrastructure design, including Network, Server, Storage, and Wireless systems and related OT/IT security technologies
  • Experience with several of the following technologies - Arista EOS, Cisco IOS, VXLAN/BGP eVPN, Cisco UCS, VMWare vSphere/Horizon, Microsoft Windows & Active Directory, Pure storage, Veeam, Efficient IP DHCP & DNS, Devops, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code
  • ACE:L4 or CCNP certification, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge
  • At least one other valuable relevant industry certification related to the above technologies (VMWare, Palo Alto, Kubernetes, DevOps, Infastructure as Code).
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten years of OT/IT infrastructure engineering and management experience
  • Industry certifications relevant to the role (CCIE or ACE:L5+, VMWare related certifications, CISSP/CISA, PCNSA/E, ITIL/ITSM related certifications, PMP or other project management certifications)
  • Experience and familiarity with manufacturing control system components like PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs etc.
  • Experience supporting highly reliable/highly critical systems found in areas like healthcare, manufacturing, or government
