Job description

One Federal Solution is seeking a Technical Writer II to support a Government Client by providing advanced technical writing, policy development, program documentation, and analytical support. The selected individual will be responsible for drafting, editing, reviewing, and coordinating complex policy directives, strategic planning documents, operational procedures, and executive-level correspondence. The Technical Writer II will work independently in a fast-paced federal environment while supporting multiple stakeholders, maintaining document accuracy, and ensuring compliance with agency standards and formatting requirements.

Technical Writer II Tasks and Duties:
  • Draft, edit, and review policy directives, strategic plans, reports, and operational documentation.
  • Facilitate policy development and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Review documents for grammatical accuracy, formatting consistency, and content compliance.
  • Coordinate and manage the routing and review process for policy documentation and internal correspondence.
  • Develop reports, briefing materials, presentations, and executive summaries for leadership review.
  • Maintain and organize policy files, records, and documentation repositories.
  • Gather information from multiple sources and provide analytical recommendations for process improvements.
  • Track policy actions, documentation updates, and strategic planning milestones.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly status reports regarding project and policy activities.
  • Support program offices with document preparation, workflow coordination, and administrative reporting requirements.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint to maintain and manage documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding policy updates and documentation requirements.
Technical Writer II Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust background investigation.
  • Must have at least three years of specialized experience related to technical writing, policy development, program analysis, or project management support.
  • Strong technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills are required.
  • Experience drafting policies, SOPs, reports, strategic plans, or executive-level documentation.
  • Superior time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal employees as well as outside sources.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively adapt to change.
  • Must possess analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
