Job description

Responsibilities

  • Work with R&D Engineers, Technical Support Engineers, and other stakeholders to create and publish the materials needed for release of new and/or upgrade of Alcon medical devices.

  • Develop engineering-level knowledge of Alcon medical devices down to their electrical and mechanical subsystems.

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of technical publication customer needs and attend to them.

  • Create and publish detailed technical materials in well-written, precise, and clear English for global distribution and meet Alcon quality requirements.

  • Work with other technical writers, when required, to create technical documentation.

  • Help with the creation of our monthly technical newsletter and other documents per business needs.

  • Ensure project deadlines are met.


Minimum:

  • 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in technical publications for electronic equipment.

  • Experience in the creation of documents for print and digital media.

  • Strong working knowledge of different document creation tools such as Adobe, Flare, and/or Oxygen.

  • Excellent communication skills.


Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Education, Instructional Design, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, training development, instructional design, or a related role.

  • Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, and controlled documentation in a regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and Instructional Systems Design (ISD).

  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

  • Experience creating process maps, flowcharts, and training materials.

  • Strong project management, organization, and time-management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
