Job description

Position Title: Safety Specialist
Location: Sparks, Nevada
Compensation: $35.00-$40.00 | Per Diem: $4,515 | W2 Full Time | Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental and other voluntary benefits
Position Overview
The Safety Specialist serves as an on-the-ground guardian of the company's safety culture by maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-organized job site. This role not only enforces safety regulations but also encourages teams to take ownership of safe work practices. Through daily inspections, training, incident prevention, and collaboration with project leadership, the Safety Specialist helps protect employees, prevent accidents, and ensure projects meet the highest safety standards while remaining on schedule and incident-free.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections, audits, and field observations
  • Identify, document, communicate, and help correct potential safety hazards
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, project requirements, and company safety policies
  • Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
  • Provide training and guidance on Lockout/Tagout, trench safety, electrical hazards, and other site-specific risks
  • Assist the Safety Department Manager with incident and near-miss investigations
  • Prepare investigation reports and recommend corrective actions for safety non-compliance
  • Work with foremen, managers, supervisors, and project managers to resolve safety concerns
  • Integrate safety requirements into each phase of project operations
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, permits, inspection logs, and compliance records
  • Verify the proper use and condition of personal protective equipment
  • Respond to on-site medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED support
  • Reinforce safe work practices and promote a proactive safety culture across the job site

Required Experience & Qualifications
  • 1-3+ years of construction safety experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification through the American Heart Association
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace Certification
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training
  • Trench Awareness training
  • Strong communication, training, and field decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, and project leadership
  • Ability to identify hazards and enforce safety standards in real time
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach to preventing workplace incidents
  • Commitment to safety, accountability, and quality

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Associate degree, trade school education, technical certification, or related field experience
  • Experience working on data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale construction projects
  • Experience analyzing safety data and trends to support continuous improvement
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and developing corrective action plan
