Overview

BRMi is seeking asenior, technically minded professional to help shape the technical direction and long-term health of our Digital Banking platform. This is not a traditional software development role. Instead, this position sits at the intersection of software engineering, solution architecture, security, and platform modernization.

The ideal candidate has a strong software engineering foundation, can dive into application source code when necessary, and understands how modern enterprise applications should be designed, integrated, secured, and operated.

You will partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Product teams to evaluate existing solutions, solve complex technical challenges, reduce technical debt, and ensure applications are scalable, resilient, secure, maintainable, and sustainable.

Responsibilities
  • Strong experience with software engineering principles and modern enterprise application architecture.
  • Ability to read, understand, analyze, and troubleshoot application source code.
  • Strong Java knowledge or experience working with Java-based enterprise applications highly preferred.
  • Experience with APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and service-based architectures.
  • Experience working with cloud-native or cloud-hosted enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of designing applications for scalability, resiliency, maintainability, availability, and sustainability.
  • Experience evaluating application architecture and identifying technical risks, design weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.
  • Understanding of modern software delivery practices, including CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, and application lifecycle management.
  • Experience identifying and addressing technical debt within complex enterprise environments.
  • Ability to evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns based on business and technical requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across complex, interconnected systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, solution architecture, or a similar technical role.
  • Strong software engineering background with the ability to read, analyze, and troubleshoot source code.
  • Strong Java experience and understanding of Java-based enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience with APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and enterprise application integrations.
  • Experience designing, reviewing, or supporting highly scalable and resilient applications.
  • Strong understanding of modern application architecture, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience identifying technical debt, architectural risks, performance concerns, and opportunities for modernization.
  • Experience with cloud-based or cloud-native applications; Azure experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, automated deployments, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Strong understanding of application security, including secure coding, API security, authentication/authorization, encryption, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC), security-by-design, and threat modeling concepts.
  • Ability to review technical designs and provide recommendations related to scalability, resiliency, security, maintainability, and performance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex applications and interconnected systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical recommendations clearly and influence engineering decisions across multiple teams.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across Engineering, Architecture, Security, Product, and other technical teams.
