Cogent is a growing, Midwest company in the fluid pumping, water processing & treatment business. Our companies include BRI, Fluid Equipment, Lee Mathews, Vanco, Vandevanter Engineering, and Water Technology Group. Together the Cogent companies provide best-in-class water and waste water process solutions and technical services.
Cogent's Lee Mathews division located in Wichita, KS is currently seeking an Outside Sales Account Manager to sell products and engineered solutions to customers within a defined established territory. This position requires strong technical, communication and decision-making skills. The successful candidate will possess a burning desire to win.
As Outside Sales Account Manager you will be responsible for managing a key geographical and named accounts territory. Important current and future customers in the industrial, power, oil & gas, chemical, water and wastewater markets will be counting on your experience and interest in solving pumping systems problems through the sale of pumps, seals and process equipment products and services. Partnering with key vendors and effectively utilizing the company's inside sales support staff will be crucial to achieving established annual sales goals.
Skills & Requirements
Strong working knowledge of industrial mechanical and rotating equipment is desired. Strong selling and communication skills are needed for success. An engineering degree or related mechanical or technical sales and problem-solving experience is desired. A great attitude and good work ethic is required. Outside Sales Account Manager duties may include:
• Works closely with Inside Sales team to determine essential strategic approaches for sales at strategic customers.
• Work with Cogent's engineering and procurement divisions for specification review, interpretations and quotation preparation.
• Maintain a great partner relationship with key manufacturers and vendors to achieve product quotas.
• Analyze customers' requirements and engages in consultative selling with clients; provides value-added services and products to solve customer problems.
• Provides timely and accurate responses to customer inquiries.
• Completes work order forms for purpose of order entry and invoicing.
• Communicate cancellations or changes in sales orders and relay these changes to appropriate personnel.
• Reviews purchase orders to ensure the customer's technical needs are met.
• Performs proactive telephone and in-person sales inquiries to investigate old or inactive customers to stimulate new sales activity with these customers and supports outside sales in follow up leads.
Qualified applicants will also possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Knowledge of processes, policies, and procedures related to a sales department and material flow.
• Previous experience with industrial engineered solutions preferred.
• Experience in the pump and pump processing industry highly desired.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Highly energetic and self-starter.
