Project Management, Construction at PGE uses a scalable project management methodology to deliver critical infrastructure projects that support safe, reliable, and affordable energy for our customers. Our team manages projects through the full lifecycle-from planning and design through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout-while partnering with diverse teams of technical experts, contractors, and stakeholders.A
As an Associate Project Manager, you will support and lead utility construction projects of varying size and complexity across transmission, distribution, substations, generation, communications, facilities, and renewable energy resources. This role is ideal for a project-oriented professional who enjoys driving work forward, building relationships, coordinating multiple priorities, and ensuring commitments are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
We're looking for a strong communicator and accountable self-starter with a foundation in formal project management principles and experience working in construction, infrastructure, energy, or utility environments. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to manage schedules, budgets, project documentation, stakeholder communications, and project risks while supporting successful project execution.
Experience supporting renewable energy projects, electric utility infrastructure, transmission line projects, permitting activities, contractor management, and capital project delivery is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
- Specialization Responsible for leading small-scale generation, transmission or distribution project(s) OR performs project management activities in support of large-scale project(s) managed by a more senior PM
- Program Development and Planning May support development of program processes, activities and priorities that support long-term strategic asset management, distribution engineering, utility asset management and other engineering goals for small- to medium-scale programs; may support the identification of long-term and short-term resources required to meet program goals, creates strategic actions for program direction, develops and implements new policies for resource management and plans, organizes and implements programs; serves as program project manager (PPM) with responsibility for meeting program goals for safety, budget, schedule, scope, resources, compliance and quality and ensuring programs deliver quality and value to the customer while meeting environmental, cultural and community requirements.
- Project Development and Planning Serves as project manager (PM) for small-scale generation, substation, transmission and/or distribution projects. Has responsibility for all aspects of a project, including development, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout. PM is accountable for meeting a project's goals for safety, budget, schedule, scope, resources, compliance and quality and ensuring projects deliver quality and value to the customer while meeting environmental, cultural and community requirements; may assist development of project processes, activities and priorities that support long-term strategic asset management, distribution engineering, utility asset management and other engineering goals for small- to large-scale projects; under the guidance of a more senior PM, develops technical specifications, prepares requests for proposals (RFPs) and evaluates bids; develops, with guidance, overall project plan, including schedule and cost baselines, dependencies, roles and resource requirements and risk mitigation
- Program/Project Management Accountable for effectively managing programs/projects to meet goals for safety, budget, schedule, scope, resources, compliance and quality; determines and applies appropriate project controls; integrates project control processes between various PGE organizations; identifies important and critical cost and schedule issues or concerns to work groups and assists in resolution. Monitors activities relating to permitting, engineering, procurement and construction.
- Stakeholder Engagement Communicates program/project updates via regular stakeholder meetings, formal reports, formal presentations and regular electronic communications; ensures updates achieve effective corporate awareness. Accurately reports on program/project status, schedules, financials, problems, risks and other significant issues. Resolves customer issues as applicable.
- Team Leadership Leads a multidisciplined matrix team in a safe, cost-effective and responsible manner. Provides staff leadership to team members; ensures effective coordination and collaboration among team members and between PGE stakeholder organizations, outside consultants and vendors. Facilitates team meetings; cultivates and reinforces group values, norms and behaviors; provides guidance and motivation to team on performance and productivity issues; ensures compliance with established project management

- External Coordination Represents and protects PGE's interests in negotiations with government agencies, utilities and property owners and during public meetings. Meets with and keeps agencies and local officials abreast of program/project status.
Education/Experience/Certifications
- Education Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, business or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience Typically, 3 or more years of experience in project management, construction management or engineering or a related field; utility experience highly preferred.
