Their role often involves risk management, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving to keep projects on track. Job description

Amprius Technologies is seeking a technically fluent Technical Program Manager to join the Product team. This role owns product lifecycle execution across a portfolio of active NPI programs — tracking products from early R&D through EVT, DVT, PVT, and transfer to production.

The Product team is responsible for all product development programs at Amprius. We work across R&D, Engineering, Operations, contract manufacturers, and customers spanning defense, aerospace, and electric aviation. This role sits at the center of that coordination, ensuring every product moves efficiently through each stage of its lifecycle.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Cell Development (30%)

  • Track products across the full lifecycle — from R&D concept and early cell builds through EVT, DVT, PVT, and production transfer
  • Create and maintain Product Requirements Documents (PRD) and Statements of Work (SOW) for assigned programs; update as requirements evolve through the product lifecycle
  • Translate customer requirements and use cases into internal performance targets and CTQ parameters
  • Monitor technical progress at each lifecycle stage; identify gaps and drive resolution with R&D and Engineering
  • Interpret lithium-ion cell characterization and test data to assess performance, reliability, safety, and qualification readiness
  • Understand lithium-ion cell manufacturing processes and track their impact on product quality, schedule, and qualification readiness
  • Review engineering deliverables from internal teams and contract manufacturing partners; identify process or performance gaps
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods to technical failures, test deviations, and manufacturing escapes

Program & Project Management (30%)

  • Own program schedules, milestone tracking, and risk registers for assigned NPI programs
  • Chair regular program status reviews; drive decisions and action item closure across R&D, Engineering, and Operations
  • Manage milestone gate execution across EVT, DVT, and PVT phases through to PPAP completion and production transfer
  • Coordinate cross-functional deliverables across internal teams and external partners
  • Support qualification of new manufacturing sources to expand and diversify the supply base

Communications — Internal & External (20%)

  • Prepare and deliver regular program status updates, risk summaries, and milestone reports to customers and internal leadership
  • Author customer-facing technical documents including EVT, DVT, and PVT reports, qualification summaries, and deviation notices
  • Represent Amprius in customer technical meetings and program reviews; own agendas and follow-up
  • Communicate proactively on risks — provide context, data, and a recommended path forward

Supplier & CM Management (20%)

  • Maintain regular technical alignment with contract manufacturers and suppliers — daily or weekly touchpoints covering program status, open issues, and deliverable progress
  • Coordinate CM documentation packages supporting design freeze, PPAP, and production readiness
  • Support qualification of new manufacturing sources; coordinate audits, sample builds, and process reviews
  • Track supplier open issues and corrective actions; escalate delinquent items with context and recommended response
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience in a hardware or manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing NPI or product qualification programs from development through production
  • Prior experience working directly with contract manufacturers and suppliers
  • Korean language fluency — Preferred for CM and supplier interface
  • Working knowledge of lithium-ion cell testing — electrochemical characterization, cycle life, rate testing, and safety/abuse testing
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion cell manufacturing processes — electrode fabrication, cell assembly, formation cycling, and aging
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Asana, Microsoft Project, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, or equivalent
  • Background in battery, electrochemical device, or energy storage product development
  • Familiarity with PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, and AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality frameworks
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or electric aviation programs

Physical Demands & Work Location:

  • Work performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards
  • May need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, respirator and safety shoes when entering the lab

Benefits

  • Comprehensive compensation package includes base salary + RSUs. Salary range for this role is $163,400 to $212,295. Base salary will be determined based on knowledge, experience, and education.
  • Health benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage. Medical options of HMO and PPO plans.
  • Employer-funded Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). HSA compatible Medical Plan, FSA Options.
  • Pet Health Insurance (dog & cats)
  • Traditional and Roth 40l(k) Plans
  • Generous vacation leave starts with 3 weeks annual accrual. 10 paid holidays. Sick time off.
