Origin Design is continually seeking highly qualified individuals to enhance our staff and better serve our clients. We are currently hiring a full-time Experienced Transportation and/or Structural Civil Engineer that will be a project leader serving municipal and county clients. This position will be designer and project manager for state department of transportation (DOT) and locally funded transportation and bridge infrastructure projects including trails, bridges, culverts, H&H studies, roadways, and traffic. The position will be based out of our Dubuque or Davenport, Iowa Office.

Position Responsibilities.

  • Be the project manager, designer, or technical expert on completing projects helping clients with their transportation needs. Be an active member of our transportation team.
  • Consult with county, county conservation and municipal clients to produce positive results and understand how to leverage a variety of project funding sources. Be the person our clients trust to develop their solutions. 
  • Form relationships with existing clients and be responsible for building new client relationships and business. 
  • Coordinate with the DOT to help clients navigate funding and critical project process. 
  • Develop project plans, contract documents, and perform transportation and/or structural design tasks.
  • Ensure completeness of design related forms and reports.

Position Requirements.

  • Transportation or Structural Engineer possessing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years of practical experience in design of transportation or bridge systems. Less years of experience may be accepted if in the specific field. 
  • Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Iowa and/or or Wisconsin or ability to become registered.

Preferred Position Qualifications.

  • Experience serving as a main client contact or main client manager for a DOT. 
  • Experience with business development responsibilities throughout the tri-state region.
  • Desire to be a critical part of a growing team.
