Job description

Plan, guide, and control the delivery of software development projects of various size and scope, and provide leadership to the team in achieving enhancements and production support to products and services.

Manage a team of software engineers responsible for providing desired functionality for products or services, spanning multiple technologies and solution domains

Manage the design, development, and implementation of software that meets established specifications

Manage production support activities for products and services

Work closely with Product Managers to ensure new features fulfill business requirements

Evaluate project proposals and/or business concepts for development level of effort.

Prioritize and allocate available resources necessary to effectively implement projects/enhancements

Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of production and/or customer support issues

Prioritize multiple tasks and manage conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Maintain flexibility and manage conflict in a dynamic organization

Exercise independent judgment

Support the ongoing professional development plans of software engineers

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience; Minimum of 1 additional year of experience related to functional area

Minimum of 3 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work, and managing the performance of direct reports

Software development experience in Java, web services, system integrations, and relational database platforms

Demonstrated experience in implementing significant systems and process changes; proven ability to work in partnership with other managers to accomplish objectives

Proven ability to determine priority of projects and assignments based on quantifiable business benefits and available resources

Proven ability to effectively manage multiple, simultaneous tasks, problems, and projects

  • Experience developing engineering talent and building teams with strong ownership, collaboration, technical judgment, AI fluency, and continuous learning behaviors.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence skills, including the ability to explain technical risks, delivery progress, and recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Preferred: Experience in healthcare technology, sensitive data environments, HIPAA/PCI considerations, or healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 or FHIR
