Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring production equipment and facility systems are running reliably and safely. This role performs a variety of hands-on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance activities, with a focus on troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains production machinery and facility equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Responds to equipment breakdowns during production and conducts scheduled preventive maintenance during service windows.
  • Diagnoses issues and repairs or replaces components such as motors, sensors, bearings, pneumatic valves, and control instruments.
  • Reads equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to guide maintenance work.
  • Uses appropriate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment including multimeters and gauges.
  • Identifies faulty operations and unusual conditions, reporting issues to supervision as needed.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of maintenance activities, updates preventive maintenance procedures, and supports reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Supports sanitation and safety efforts by maintaining clean and organized workspaces, and following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), OSHA 1910 standards, and food safety protocols.
  • Trains other technicians and process operators on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Disassembles, inspects, and reassembles machinery as needed to access and replace worn or defective parts.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities to enhance safety, quality, service, and cost performance across the plant.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as necessary

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Passing score on aptitude test required in lieu of high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Certificate from a college or technical program with 2+ years of relevant experience for Technician level.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance or packaging machinery required for Senior Technician level.
  • Maintenance experience in consumer goods, baking, or printing industries is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; experience with SAP S/4 HANA or CMMS systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with plumbing, electrical systems, industrial mechanics, and applicable safety standards.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Internal Only: Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources

Additional Requirements for Senior Maintenance Technician

  • Practical experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Ability to operate metalworking tools including lathes, drill presses, and grinders.
  • Skilled in welding and the use of various hand and power tools for fabrication and repairs.
