The Opportunity

The Technical Learning & Development Partner is responsible for translating organizational learning strategy into impactful programs and initiatives that build employee capability, strengthen performance, and support business objectives. This role partners closely with the Director of Learning & Development, the Sr L&D Partner, business leaders, Human Resources, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify learning needs, prioritize development opportunities, and deliver solutions that drive measurable business results. The ideal industry profile would be someone who was in the electrical, manufacturing, or construction field before moving over to facilitate technical training.

The L&D Partner – Technical Training leads the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of learning programs for technical, operational, and job-specific skill development across areas such as construction, production, field services, systems/process training, hands-on readiness, and SME-led technical instruction. This role provides consultation to leaders and stakeholders on learning solutions, performance improvement strategies, and workforce development initiatives, ensuring alignment between enterprise learning priorities and operational needs. In addition, the L&D Partner – Technical Training provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to the L&D Specialist who support the technical and operational learning for construction, production, field services, and related job-specific skill areas and ensures the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of learning content, instructional design, training delivery, and program execution.

What you will do?

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of technical training programs focused on systems, tools, equipment, software, and technical processes, while providing guidance and oversight to team members responsible for program execution.
  • Partner with and direct collaboration among subject matter experts (SMEs) in IT, Operations, Engineering, and other technical functions to document workflows, capture critical knowledge, and translate technical information into effective learning solutions.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee technical onboarding curricula for new hires in technical and operational roles, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with business needs.
  • Create, maintain, and govern technical training materials, including job aids, simulations, e-learning modules, instructor-led training materials, reference guides, and performance support resources, while ensuring deliverables developed by others meet established standards.
  • Manage and oversee the administration of technical training within the Learning Management System (LMS), including course configuration, enrollments, assessments, reporting, and data integrity.
  • Facilitate and coordinate instructor-led technical training, hands-on labs, and virtual learning sessions, while ensuring effective delivery by internal trainers, SMEs, and L\&D team members.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on learner progress, technical competency development, certification attainment, and system adoption metrics, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and resolution for** learner and stakeholder issues related to training access, course functionality, learning technologies, and technical content comprehension, while establishing processes for ongoing support.
  • Lead learning enablement efforts for** system implementations, upgrades, and process changes by designing and overseeing the development of just-in-time learning resources, performance support tools, and change readiness materials.
  • Establish and maintain standards, processes, and best practices for technical learning design, content development, training delivery, and program evaluation to ensure consistency, scalability, and organizational impact.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and work direction to Learning & Development Specialists and other contributors involved in technical training initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in technical training, instructional design, or a related role.
  • Experience partnering with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and business stakeholders to gather information, analyze learning needs, develop training content, and translate complex concepts into effective and engaging learning solutions.
  • Experience supporting technical or system-based training in a corporate or operational environment.
  • Experience working in operations-heavy environments (e.g., manufacturing, construction, data centers, or similar).
  • Experience developing training for systems, tools, equipment, or technical processes.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and elearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Rise).
  • Ability to understand and translate technical concepts into clear, learner-friendly content.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and technical instructional design best practices.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Technical aptitude with learning technologies, multimedia tools, and digital platforms.
