Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Shift Technical Advisor (Safety Basis) opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN at the Y-12 National Security Complex.
DESCRIPTION:
The Shift Technical Advisor is responsible for providing the technical expertise to understand the approved safety basis for operations of the facility and to evaluate the impact of proposed changes/modifications on the safe operation of the facility.
DUTIES:
  • Serving as primary support team member for the Operations Manager and Shift Manager to ensure daily operations are safe, effective, and performed in accordance with approved procedures
  • Interfacing with support organizations to understand planned operations within the facility and ensure activities are in compliance with facility safety basis authorized work
  • Performing troubleshooting and improvement activities for emerging issues within the operations management scope of responsibility to resolve issues and improve effectiveness in implementation of compliance requirements
  • Serving in a project management role as needed for coordination of large, cross-cutting activities within the facility that involve multiple interfaces that cross organizational lines
  • Presenting technical briefings or presentations, as required, that describe and explain approved facility operations and compliance implementation methods
  • Evaluating proposed modifications or changes against the approved Documented Safety Analysis via the Unreviewed Safety Question
  • Determining process to ensure changes are within the scope and methods appropriate for the facility
  • Provide on-call coverage for assigned weekends based upon a rotation with others in the group; on-call is as needed which may or may not require weekend work for the assigned weekend

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA/BS Degree plus 15-20 years of direct experience required or an MA or MS with 14-18 years of experience.
  • Ability to provide technical expertise to understand the approved safety basis for operations of the facility and to evaluate the impact of proposed changes/modifications on the safe operation of the facility.

Other Job Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance.
