Job description

Lead High Impact DevOps Transformation
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on DevOps Technical Lead to join our team and lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and high-performing AWS cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise across AWS services, Kubernetes (EKS), CloudFormation/Terraform, Security, Networking and modern CI/CD pipelines to drive operational excellence and automation across our environments. The candidate will lead a small team of direct reports.
What You'll do
  • Design, build, and maintain robust infrastructure on AWS using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
  • Collaborate closely with development and QA teams to implement automated CI/CD pipelines for consistent, reliable deployments.
  • Manage and scale Kubernetes (EKS) clusters to support containerized applications.
  • Ensure infrastructure security by implementing IAM best practices, encryption protocols, and network hardening.
  • Own the operational health, stability, and availability of customer-facing and internal digital platforms.
  • Implement infrastructure monitoring and observability using tools such as Datadog, with a focus on performance tuning and proactive alerting.
  • Implement patch management strategies for Linux environments to ensure compliance and security.
  • Assist with customer support, both internal (developers, QA, architects) and external (other Hilti employees, customers).
  • Guide, help and unblock internal and external DevOps engineers in their day-to-day tasks.
  • Coordinate critical support activities like release deployment, production environment monitoring and development/architecture/QA cohort support to ensure system and environment health and performance.
  • Be the subject matter expert on key areas of technology which the team leverages to deliver business results.
  • Coach and mentor the DevOps team and ensure the value creation for customers and company.
  • Be a role model and set examples - convey the company's values: integrity, courage, team spirit and commitment.
  • Ensure consistent people development in terms of career path, skills and working methods.
  • Assess and monitor performance of direct reports.

What You'll Bring
  • This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization or visa sponsorship (including initial, transfer, or extension), and candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and remain authorized for the duration of employment without the need for sponsorship.
  • 5+ years of experience providing technical leadership within DevOps or Infrastructure teams, acting as a subject matter expert responsible for hands-on delivery, technical guidance, and operational strategy
  • Strong expertise in CloudFormation/Terraform and infrastructure automation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Networking concepts
  • Proven hands-on experience with AWS core services (EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, ELB, etc.)
  • Exposure to CDN configuration (e.g., Akamai, CloudFront) and content optimization strategies
  • Production-level experience managing and operating Kubernetes clusters (preferably EKS)
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD principles, including experience with platforms like GitLab or Jenkins
  • Expertise in patch management strategies, including automated patching in EC2, EKS workloads, and Linux systems
  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks
  • Hands on experience with implementing security best practices in container images
  • Experience with configuration management (e.g., Helm)
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across infrastructure, networking, and application layers
  • CKS/CKA Certifications preferred
  • AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) preferred
