POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Technical Project Manager directly supports the company's mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. You will join Nordex USA in Project Engineering where we are building a team to support the technical operations for wind farm projects execution and commissioning in North America. You will have the unique opportunity to be in from the planning phase so you can use your experience to set things up right from the very beginning. As the Technical Project Manager, you will work at all steps of project execution, alongside experts from the Global Nordex organization, project owners, contractors, independent engineers, and other stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide technical input concerning the operations to the Project Manager.
  • Manage interfaces and communications across all engineering groups (Mechanical. Electrical, Control) to support project execution.
  • Provide leadership and direction to subject matter experts at Engineering addressing RFIs or open issues affecting the project(s).
  • Ensure that vital interfaces, risks, opportunities, and actions within technical operations are tracked, managed and necessary interventions identified and closed out.
  • Oversee the technical operations are planned and executed according to the project(s) schedule.
  • Make presentations and status update reports to technical and PM leadership teams.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer between projects, capturing lessons learned and continuous improvement. Handover to the Services Organization.


WHAT YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/ electrical engineering from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Project Management program.
  • 15+ years of experience managing a combination of projects associated with the following: onshore wind turbine design (including mechanical, electrical, project interconnection process, design and certification) and Balance of Plant design (mechanical, MV electrical, foundation, SCADA systems and communications).
  • Knowledge and experience with turbine design.
  • Knowledge and experience with Balance of Plant design.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the NERC reliability standards
  • Must be comfortable managing and coordinating technical support from different groups at Engineering.
  • Strong verbal communications skills. 
  • Clear and concise technical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experienced with using computers and Microsoft software (Office, etc.)
  • English & French Proficiency is required. Other languages are a plus (German & Spanish).
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (20% typical).
  • Must be able to work in Canada with no Company sponsorship and have the ability to obtain a valid passport
  • Ability to successfully complete all Canadian regulatory laws surrounding pre-employment screening requirements.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver's license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver's abstract checks to confirm continued insurability. (Note on requirement: this is required for our insurance policy - applies to all roles except manufacturing blue collar)

The pay for this role is exempt at $145k - $165k CAD salary with up to a 15% bonus.  Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
