Title: Technical Lead - Gas Control Platform/SCADA
Duration: 8 Months
Location: Portland, OR
Job Description
You'll provide SCADA subject matter and implementation services for Instrumentation and Control (I&C) / Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system implementation in the Gas Industry. Your primary focus will be a SCADA implementation including planning, design, software programming and configuration, data migration and integrations. You'll be managing the technical delivery to meet the project technical and functional requirements. The role will require a self-motivated, detail oriented, quality driven, team focused professional. Remote work is ok, but some in-office time will be required for developing relationships and coordinating with project staff. The role will require periodic travel.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, advanced technical expertise in SCADA systems, and experience with large-scale technology implementations. This role is critical to ensuring the successful deployment of a state-of-the-art system to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and reliability.
Scope
  • Architecture experience withDesigning & Implementing Gas Control Platforms & SCADAreplacements.
  • Experience working withinProject/Delivery Management Methodologies (SDLC, Hybrid Waterfall),
  • Experience working in a crossfunctional team, with the ability to lead/drive the scope of work inambiguous client facing situations and requests,
  • Creation of daily, weekly andincident reports
  • Weekly time tracking andapproval
  • Weekly report submitted to Project Manager indicating labor hours expended and remaininghours relative to the project schedule and contract.
  • Work in collaboration with technical SMEs and Administrators, NW Natural Project managementand Change Management team members during working hours 7am-4pmPDT Monday-Friday.
  • Attend and activelyparticipate in end user site validation sessions along with business site owners, Technical SMEs, PMs, Change Management team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical SCADAimplementation of the Aspen Tech Gas Control Room Platform and SCADAsystems.
  • Provide hands-on expertise inSCADA architecture, including redundancy, failover mechanisms, andhigh-availability designs.
  • Develop detailed technicalspecifications, system blueprints, and integration roadmaps.
  • Expertise in databasemanagement and real-time data analytics associated with SCADA systems.
  • Communicate technicalconcepts and progress to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concisemanner.
  • Ensure stakeholderrequirements are captured, documented, and incorporated into the solutiondesign.
  • Provide partnership, andcollaboration with the Utility client's SCADA engineering team, EnterpriseArchitecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Compliance teams.
  • Facilitate coordination amonginternal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with technical andoperational goals.
  • Identify potential risksassociated with the implementation and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure system reliability andsecurity are addressed during the execution phase.
  • Mentor and guide technicalteam members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degreein Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in technicalleadership roles, preferably in SCADA system implementations or controlroom technologies.
  • 3 years of SCADA experiencedelivering instrumentation and control system implementation projects
  • Experience with OSI MonarchAspenTech software in electric or gas (gas is preferred but not required)
  • Experience with typicalproject management tools including schedules, risk registers, and logs forchange management
  • Strong understanding ofindustrial protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus, DNP3) and cybersecurity standardsfor industrial systems.
  • Experience in implementingadvanced HMI/SCADA designs, including alarm management, trend analysis,and visualization dashboards.
  • Familiarity with cloud-basedSCADA systems, edge computing, and IIoT integrations.
  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix& CompactLogix Programmable Logic Controllers
