Operating under general supervision, you will map site business requirements to technical solutions in strict alignment with Lonza's global architectural, quality, and security standards. This role serves as a key technical engineer and strategic partner, managing third-party service provider delivery against defined KPIs while driving infrastructure automation, backup resilience, and disaster recovery readiness locally and across remote network sites.
What will you get?
  • An agile career and dynamic working culture
  • An inclusive and ethical workplace
  • Critical Technology Ownership: Direct the integration of complex IT infrastructures within an advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory environment.
  • Global Network Collaboration: Serve as an active member of Lonza's Global Infrastructure team, contributing to architecture blueprints and influencing infrastructure strategies network-wide.
  • Compensation programs that recognize high performance
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance, as well as PTO and more
  • Our full list of global benefits can be found here: https://www.lonza.com/careers/benefits.

What you'll do:
  • Technical Design & Mapping: Plan, design, and map local site business requirements to specific technical requirements, ensuring all infrastructure services align with global security, architecture, and compliance standards.
  • OT-Context Infrastructure Integration: Lead technical engineering initiatives to deploy and sustain enterprise IT infrastructure within specialized OT footprints, supporting the shop floor, building management, and laboratory networks.
  • Service Provider Governance: Manage third-party service provider quality by defining, measuring, and reporting against strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and technical KPIs.
  • Architecture Blueprint Contribution: Collaborate with the global engineering community and IT Security to develop, refine, and deploy infrastructure architecture blueprints tailored for industrial automation and OT platforms.
  • Systems Administration & Hosting: Maintain hands-on oversight and engineering ownership across core platforms, ensuring high availability for Windows/Linux Server environments, Active Directory structures, and virtualization layers (vSphere/AHV).
  • Infrastructure Automation: Drive operational task efficiency by developing automation workflows, utilizing scripting languages (PowerShell/Bash) and modern Infrastructure-as-Code platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Disaster Recovery & Lifecycle Continuity: Govern robust site backup strategies-specifically utilizing Veeam and Acronis technologies-and maintain verified disaster recovery protocols to protect business-critical production data.
  • Compliance Documentation Maintenance: Author, modify, and sustain vital configuration documentation, technical designs, system diagrams, and change management logs in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.

What we're looking for:
  • Experience: 5-10 years of advanced technical experience in IT/OT infrastructure engineering or network administration within a manufacturing or highly regulated corporate environment.
  • Core Technical Mastery: Senior-level command of Windows Server systems, Cisco routing/switching, wireless controllers, Active Directory, storage arrays, and enterprise hypervisors (vSphere or Nutanix AHV).
  • Automation & Containerization Skills: Hands-on experience or deep conceptual knowledge of container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker, Podman) and specialized scripting (PowerShell/Bash) to automate routine infrastructure tasks.
  • Service Delivery Acumen: Solid understanding of the ITIL service framework model, cross-technical root-cause analysis methodologies, and vendor/service provider management.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills with a proven capacity to navigate cross-functional dynamics, bridge global design parameters with local operational teams, and influence technical peers outside the direct department.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline is highly preferred.
  • Attributes: Proactive, "go-getter" attitude with a strong customer service ethic and the ability to independently anticipate technical risks, prioritize critical site issues, and deliver real-time solutions under tight timelines.
