Position Overview

Jasper Engines & Transmissions is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to drive the next phase of our enterprise platform evolution. This role is a hands‑on technical leadership position responsible for shaping, building, and operating the Azure‑based platform that powers our Infinity modernization initiative and future digital capabilities across the organization. You will operate at the intersection of Architecture, Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Application Development, translating architectural intent into practical, scalable engineering solutions while enabling development teams to deliver faster, more consistently, and with higher quality. This is not a people management role. Instead, it is a high‑impact technical leadership position focused on building platform capability, establishing standards, and improving engineering effectiveness at scale. Over time, this role will help evolve our current DevOps model into a mature Platform Engineering organization focused on self‑service enablement, developer experience, and operational excellence.

What This Role Owns Platform Engineering & Cloud Operations
  • Own the evolution, and operation of the Azure platform supporting Infinity and enterprise applications.
  • Lead implementation of event‑driven and cloud‑native services including:
    • Azure Functions, Container Apps, Service Bus
    • API Management, Cosmos DB, Storage, Key Vault
  • Establish secure, scalable patterns for:
    • Networking, private connectivity, and hybrid integration
  • Continuously improve platform:
    • Reliability, scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency
  • Deliver reusable platform services and standardized patterns across teams.
Platform Strategy & Architecture Enablement
  • Act as the primary implementation authority for platform architecture and engineering standards.
  • Reference implementations.
  • Practical engineering guidance.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for platform and implementation challenges.
  • Reduce delivery friction by aligning architecture with real‑world execution.
  • Partner with Architecture, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery.
Developer Experience & Platform Enablement
  • Build a platform that accelerates development teams—not controls them.
  • Develop and maintain:
    • Self‑service deployment pipelines
    • Infrastructure provisioning
    • Monitoring and diagnostics capabilities
  • Tooling, environments, templates, and platform patterns.
  • Improve:
    • Onboarding time
    • Engineering productivity
    • Cross‑team consistency
  • Drive adoption of platform capabilities through enablement and coaching.
CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code
  • Lead design and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and related tooling.
  • Define and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform:
    • Modular, reusable, environment‑aligned designs
  • Automate:
    • Build, test, deploy, rollback, and operational workflows
  • Speed, reliability, repeatability.
Reliability, Observability & Operations
  • Establish platform‑wide observability using:
    • Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Grafana
  • Define and track platform KPIs:
    • Availability
    • Deployment success rate
    • Recovery time
    • Engineering throughput
  • Lead:
    • Incident response
    • Root‑cause analysis
    • Long‑term remediation
  • Continuously improve operational maturity and system resilience.
  • Evaluate and enable:
    • AI‑assisted development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, MCP workflows)
    • Automation and developer productivity tooling
  • Identify opportunities to reduce engineering friction across the SDLC.
  • Support the evolution toward:
    • Internal Developer Platforms
    • Self‑service engineering ecosystems
  • Partner with Architecture and Security to ensure governed adoption of emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or similar technical leadership roles.
  • Event‑driven and distributed systems experience.
  • Secure and hybrid cloud architectures experience.
  • Deep experience with:
    • CI/CD (Azure DevOps)
    • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
  • Strong .NET background in enterprise application environments.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and production operations.
  • Proven ability to:
    • Lead technical initiatives
    • Mentor engineers
    • Translate architecture into execution
  • Strong communication and cross‑team leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting multiple development teams through platform capabilities.
  • Experience building or evolving an Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and developer productivity tooling.
  • Exposure to AI‑assisted software engineering capabilities.
  • Experience in modernization and cloud transformation programs.
  • Azure certifications (Administrator, DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect).
Success in This Role
  • Development teams deliver faster with fewer production issues.
  • Platform patterns are consistently adopted across teams.
  • CI/CD and infrastructure are largely self‑service.
  • Platform‑related incidents decrease and recovery improves.
  • Engineering teams report improved developer experience and reduced friction.
  • The platform scales with the organization without requiring proportional headcount.
Why This Role Matters

This role is foundational to Jasper’s long‑term technology strategy. You will directly impact the success of the Infinity modernization initiative, the scalability of our engineering organization, the consistency and reliability of our application platform, and the organization’s ability to innovate without increasing complexity. This is an opportunity to build a modern, scalable platform foundation that enables engineering teams to move faster, operate with confidence, and deliver meaningful business value.

Salary and Benefits
  • Competitive starting salary: based on experience.
  • Two retirement plans: 401k + Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
  • Health & Wellness Clinic + Fitness Center.
  • On the job training.
  • And so much more!
