About the role Designs and delivers hands on mechanical training courses (1-2 weeks) that build foundational and advanced turbomachinery skills, guiding new hires through core concepts, job book exercises, and real-world inspection and assembly practices while evaluating their proficiency. Develops and continuously improves training curricula, materials, and programs to address skill gaps, enhance safety and productivity, and ensure effective onboarding and ongoing workforce upskilling.

Responsibilities

  • Leading novice mechanical training courses
    • Helping to develop the next generation of mechanical talent within our organization
      • Guiding groups through the critical job book exercises
      • Teaching refined mechanical skills throughout the disassembly, inspection and reassembly stages of an overall
      • Verifying an employee's ability to apply measurement methods to real world inspection scenarios
      • Guide new hires through basic terminology and turbomachinery overview
  • Identify current and future training needs and create a curriculum to facilitate that training
  • Refining and developing mechanical training materials
    • Advancing the modules that have already been created
    • Building out adjacent training modules for other equipment types
    • Developing training aides for specialized tasks.
  • Leading periodic advance mechanical upskilling training efforts
  • Supporting aspects of new hire shop orientation
  • Supporting occasional outage Production Supervision responsibilities/oversight
  • Search for gaps in training content and materials that need updating to generate higher productivity and safety among staff
  • Researching new training supplies and materials that can enhance Sulzer's training procedures while providing value to employees
  • Communicating with management, trainers, and team members to ensure that all training needs are met
  • Conducting technical orientation programs and arranging on-the-job training for new hires as needed
  • Resolving any specific problems and tailoring training programs as necessary
  • Provide documentation of employees performance during training to supervision and upper management including aptitude, attitude, and academic performance.
  • Maintain records from all training classes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Education, or similar related disciplines and/or a combination of training, experience, and education.
  • 5 or more years of technical training experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing setting
  • Significant experience creating technical training curriculums and programs
  • Ability to plan, manage time, and multitask effectively
  • Advanced database and computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced record-keeping skills
  • Good decision-making, problem-solving, collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Leadership and motivational skills are a plus
