Job description

SAK Construction is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Business Development Manager- Technical Director. SAK is one of the largest privately held pipeline rehabilitation contractors in the U.S. Founded in 2006 by a seasoned team of experts in underground construction and trenchless technology, the company focuses on helping clients nationwide identify the most cost-effective solutions to the many operational, regulatory, and environmental problems associated with deteriorating sanitary and storm sewers.
Responsibilities:
  • Overall responsibility to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they relate to business development.
  • Provides executive leadership team and regional leadership with recommendations related to organizational growth initiatives impacting business development efforts.
  • Leads alternative delivery pursuits and provides guidance and recommendations to regional leadership and business development staff on strategy and partnering/teaming decisions.
  • Manages development of proposals, bids, and generating market intelligence for capturing and analyzing strategic market or client information.
  • Participate in national trade shows, professional organizations (DBIA, etc.) and industry events as requested by VP of Business Development and regional leadership.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and coaching of regional teams as it relates to business development relationships including regional, state and local levels.
  • Contributes to the development of high-level relationships with customers, engineering firms and potential customers.
  • Contributes to and assists with efforts to identify, develop and close opportunities for business.
  • Serves as an internal consultant to VP of Business Development and various departments upon request to enhance all business development-related concerns.
  • Responsible for creating departmental budgets as requested.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Development or Sales.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field. MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in forging and maintaining business relationships.
  • 5+ years of experience in negotiating contracts and leading strategic pursuits.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM Systems.
  • Ideal candidate is licensed engineer, DBIA certified, or similar technical professional certifications/licensures.
  • 10+ years of experience working in construction industry or similar high-paced environment.
  • Experienced in public speaking and engagement, contract negotiations and technical writing.
