Position Summary

The Quality Systems / Technical Documentation Specialist is responsible for maintaining and improving the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring technical documentation is accurate, controlled, and compliant with industry and customer requirements. This position supports manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams by administering document control processes, managing quality records, coordinating audits, and maintaining procedures, work instructions, specifications, and technical documentation.

The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, foundry, or metal casting environments and possesses a strong understanding of quality systems, document control, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with company standards and applicable industry requirements.
  • Create, revise, format, distribute, and control technical documents, including:
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Work Instructions
    • Quality Procedures
    • Engineering Specifications
    • Inspection Plans
    • Forms and Templates
    • Process Flow Documents
  • Ensure document revisions are properly reviewed, approved, released, and archived.
  • Maintain document revision history and document retention requirements.
  • Coordinate document change requests (DCRs/ECRs/ECOs) with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality.
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits by organizing documentation and quality records.
  • Maintain quality records in compliance with retention requirements.
  • Assist with CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) documentation and follow-up activities.
  • Track nonconformances and assist with documentation associated with NCRs.
  • Monitor QMS metrics and prepare quality reports as requested.
  • Support ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management system compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain training records associated with controlled procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure obsolete documents are removed from points of use.
  • Coordinate periodic document reviews with department owners.
  • Assist Engineering with Bill of Materials (BOMs), specifications, and technical drawing documentation control.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering Technology, Business, Technical Writing, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Systems, Document Control, or Technical Documentation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Strong understanding of document control processes.
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Excellent organizational and record management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
