Job description

Associate Technical Designer, Women's Denim

ABOUT THE COMPANY:
True Religion is an urban casual lifestyle brand focused on high-quality denim, activewear, accessories, and more-for men, women, and kids. Founded in 2002, we shook up the Los Angeles denim scene by re-engineering the classic five-pocket jean with our signature Super T Stitch and iconic horseshoe detailing-now synonymous with bold, unapologetic style and the True Religion legacy. Driven by a relentless commitment to craftsmanship, we design with one goal in mind: to stand out from the crowd. We don't just create denim-we give it attitude, authenticity, and individuality.

THE PURPOSE:
The Associate Technical Designer, Women's Denim supports the accuracy, consistency, and execution of garment fit and technical development across denim product categories from initial design handoff through pre-production approval. The position plays a meaningful role in upholding brand standards by supporting fit integrity, wash considerations, and construction excellence specific to denim. The ideal candidate will grow into fit development responsibilities with guidance from senior team members and contribute to True Religion's continued growth by helping deliver high-quality denim products that meet both brand expectations and customer needs.

THE ROLE (what you are accountable for):

  • Support the fit development process from design handoff through pre-production approval, helping ensure timelines and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Participate in technical fittings under leadership guidance, developing the ability to articulate fit direction and assist in resolving fit and construction challenges.
  • Create and review detailed technical packages, including garment specifications, graded measurements, tolerances, and fit comments, for senior review and approval.
  • Ensure accuracy in garment measurements, labeling, and internal documentation to support fit consistency and development efficiency.
  • Organize, catalog, and manage samples to ensure readiness and accuracy for fittings and cross-functional reviews.
  • Prepare garments and documentation for fit sessions, including measurement tracking and fit history.
  • Support fit, sizing, and grading standards across product categories, ensuring alignment with brand and customer expectations.
  • Support cross-functional alignment with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, and other teams on product intent, aesthetics, and seasonal milestones.
  • Assist in communicating with vendors to help ensure technical execution and workmanship meet company standards.

YOU ARE:
You bring a developing foundation of technical design knowledge and a genuine interest in product development. You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, take responsibility for your work, and approach challenges with both care and curiosity. You are detail-oriented, organized, and growing your confidence in fit discussions. You collaborate well cross-functionally and communicate clearly with vendors and internal teams.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Technical Design, with exposure to denim product categories.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office; experience with PLM systems such as Full Circle is a plus.
  • Foundational knowledge of pattern making, grading, and garment construction, with familiarity with denim construction techniques.
  • Understanding of denim fabrics, washes, and finishes, including how shrinkage, stretch, and wash treatments can impact garment construction and fit.
  • Detail-oriented, with a developing ability to accurately translate design intent into finished denim products, including consistency in measurements, stitching, and workmanship.
  • Ability to support multiple denim styles across seasons, with awareness of development timelines, quality standards, and workflow efficiency.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey fit and construction comments to cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Some experience working with vendors on denim fit, construction, and wash execution.
  • Positive, team-oriented mindset with a collaborative and proactive approach, comfortable working in a fast-paced denim development environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Gerber Accumark
  • Experience with international production and sourcing
