Job description

Job Title:  Technical Services Representative

Reports to:  Ryan Lemieur, Technical Services Manager

Salary Range:  minimum $67k

 Scope: A Technical Services Representative assists with achieving the company's established annual budget by reducing waste resulting from producing concrete products which do not meet project specifications. This is achieved by understanding specification boundaries and concrete mixture adjustment options. Work location will be at all (12) southeastern Michigan production facilities, with special focus upon the Detroit based production facilities.

Job Description/Objectives:

- Primary #1 - concrete sampling and plastic measures determination:

o Communicating with quality control manager on a daily basis to determine schedule and objectives.

o Conducting slump tests.

o Conducting total air content tests.

o Conducting fresh temperature tests.

o Conducting density tests.

o Conducting yield calculations.

o Executing mixture adjustment(s) to bring plastic measures into specification.

o Fabricating and transporting compressive strength specimens.

o Recording all test results and reporting them daily to Quality Control Manager.

- Primary #2 - free moisture determinations for slump control:

o Direct all plant managers of appropriate aggregate free moisture settings for use in production.

Free determinations via:

Iterative process

Moisture meter

Hot plate or oven bake out.

- Secondary #1 - certification:

o Obtain/maintain NRMCA/MCA concrete technician Level I and II certifications.

- Secondary #2 - concrete submittal preparation:

o Learn commercial project concrete submittal preparation.

o Learn Mdot project concrete submittal preparation.

Budgetary Responsibilities:  n/a

- Auxiliary responsibilities:

o Participate in night/off hour and weekend work.

o Insure operations personnel properly handle/load exotic concrete materials.

o Assist managers with special projects when assigned.

o Assist/support other quality control department team members when required.

Physical Requirements:
