Job Title: Technical Assistant, Cosmetology
Location: Springlake Campus - Cosmetology 
Salary Structure: $19.00/Hr. (Base)
Position Contract: 10-Month, Non-Exempt, Support Staff

General Description:
Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for a Technical Assistant in the Cosmetology program who will be responsible for daily clerical duties and assisting students in the classroom under the general direction of the classroom teacher(s) by providing supplementary instruction and guided clinical practice.  Duties may vary depending upon individual and school situations.

General Qualification Requirements: 
 

Education/Experience:

  • Three (3) years relevant, licensed experience in cosmetology.
  • Must have Master Instructor License in Cosmetology.

Representative Duties:

  1. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
  2. Supports and assists in strategic planning for developing the Performance Excellence Plan for Metro Technology Centers.
  3. Tutor individual students and students in small groups.  Selects materials appropriate for tutorial activities but does not introduce new materials.
  4. Guides clinical practice of students.
  5. Assists faculty with paper grading and any requested paper recording.
  6. Assists faculty in completing required records and reports, including attendance, preliminary progress reports, state board reports, and conference preparation.
  7. Maintains inventory control records.
  8. Substitutes for teacher(s) / instructor(s) following Oklahoma Department of Career Technology Education, State Department of Education, and Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology rules and regulations.
  9. Assist in the operation and care of equipment and materials used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
  10. Assists in maintenance of physical facilities, bulletin boards, and housekeeping details.
  11. Performs related duties as assigned.


 

Reports To: Immediate supervision is given by Faculty
                     General direction is given by Site Director.

Supervises: Only the supervision of students.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to disseminate information, instruct, plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to observe, recognize and interpret.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual attendance.
