Job description

We are seeking a Principal Quantum Applications Scientist in our Broomfield, CO Location. This person will conduct evaluations of quantum applications specific to Quantinuum's quantum hardware roadmap. They will explore what applications may be feasible to run on various systems and evaluate value and resource requirements. The candidate should also have excellent technical writing and collaboration skills as they will prepare external facing documents and work cross functionally between hardware, QEC/Theory, and applications teams.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct cross industry evaluation of state-of-the-art quantum applications for trapped ion quantum computers
  • Evaluate quantum algorithm scaling behavior, trade-offs, and cross-over points for various applications run on trapped-ion quantum computers
  • Collaborate with teams that develop quantum algorithms, benchmarking, and applications on quantum solutions business proposals
  • Map quantum algorithms into real-world business processes.
  • Benchmark algorithms and applications
  • Communicate technical results through documentation, reports, and presentations
  • Report to internal/external customers and senior management, using both technical and non-technical language
  • Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation plans for quantum algorithms and applications research and development roadmap

YOU MUST HAVE:
  • Master's degree minimum
  • Minimum 8 + years working in industrial research programs
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

WE VALUE:
  • PhD in Physics, Mathematics, or a related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of quantum algorithms or experience developing quantum algorithms
  • Expertise with computational/quantum chemistry, biopharma, or optimization applications
  • Strong scientific communication and technical writing skills
  • Experience integrating emerging technologies into existing business processes

$189,000 - $220,000 a year
Compensation & Benefits:
Incentive Eligible - Range posted is inclusive of bonus target when applicable
The pay range for this role is $189,000 - $220,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate's skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
