The Bioprocess Applications Scientist is responsible for providing training, troubleshooting, and technical support to Cytiva customers and associates around the use of Cytiva's industry-leading chromatography resins, columns, and systems at pilot and production scale. This is accomplished through meetings, classroom lectures, and laboratory activities.
This position reports to the North America Resin Modality Leader and is part of the North American Resin Modality team located in Marlborough, MA and will be an on-site role.
What you will do:
  • You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Cytiva's large-scale chromatography applications laboratory in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
  • You will be part of the North American Resin Modality team providing technical support, training, and troubleshooting for chromatography technologies used by Cytiva's customers in the large-scale purification of therapeutic biologics.
  • You will also interact with and support sales, marketing, field service, Fast Trak training, Bioprocess R&D, and other parts of the organization to help position Cytiva chromatography technologies during pre- and post-sales activities that translate technical applications consultation into defending and expanding market share.

Who you are:
  • 5+ years of experience in large-scale cGMP purification of biologics - monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, nucleic acids, and viral vectors.
  • A degree in a life sciences discipline that includes coursework in biochemistry, molecular biology, and analytical methods.
  • Strong background in basic chromatography theory and practice including column packing techniques, resin and membrane technologies, process development, scale-up, and automated systems. Experience with Cytiva's chromatography product portfolio is a plus.
  • Hands-on practical experience with large-scale chromatography equipment. Expertise with Cytiva's ÄKTA process™ systems, chromatography columns (BPG, Chromaflow™, Axichrom™) and UNICORN™ software is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute and communicate in a multi-disciplinary team environment across geographies, departments, and disciplines.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
  • This is a customer facing role, and many customer interactions will not require travel. However, some travel to customer sites within North America may be required from time to time. Also, corporate internal meetings may require occasional international travel with the approval of the hiring manager.
  • Travel to customer sites within reasonable driving distance from Cytiva's Marlborough site and the use of rental cars for trips involving flights to other destinations will require a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. and move wheeled equipment up to 3000 lbs. with assistance is required.
  • Familiarity with laboratory chemical and safety compliance practices and personal protective equipment is required.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Develop and deliver basic and advanced training to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Customer service, sales, or product support and technical support.

The annual salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
