Job description

We are looking for a Systems Analyst who combines strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand how technology supports the business. This role will serve as a key technical resource for our Technical and Geospatial systems, partnering closely with business users to optimize applications, resolve complex issues, and deliver effective, sustainable solutions. In this role, you will:

  • Own and support critical technical and geospatial applications, including Aries, Execute, Master Data Management (WellMaster), and other enterprise systems.
  • Partner directly with business users to understand needs, troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and develop practical, effective solutions.
  • Apply strong technical, analytical, and systems expertise to evaluate complex problems, identify opportunities for improvement, and enhance system functionality and usability.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve detailed technical documentation, system procedures, workflows, and support materials.
  • Design and document solutions for complex and high-impact system challenges, ensuring issues are resolved thoroughly and sustainably.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for assigned applications and business processes.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Lead user training and knowledge-sharing, including presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions at user locations.
  • Collaborate across technical and business teams to drive system improvements, process efficiencies, data quality, and overall user experience.
  • Stay curious and proactive—learn the systems, understand the business, challenge the status quo, and continuously look for better ways to solve problems.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of network architecture, servers and databases, software and hardware configuration, SSO and security protocols, and authentication.
  • Demonstrate a qualified understanding of supported business functions supported by IT systems/products.
  • Develop understanding of interfaces and supported business processes.
  • Enhancing knowledge in performing functional/technical analysis, root cause analysis, application configuration and testing.
  • Enhancing skills in performing advanced application/script programming to automate business functions.
  • Actively identify and facilitate improvements of business processes relating to data collection, processing, integration, and reporting through the use of Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, etc.
  • Trusted resource for escalated support issues providing individual training and guidance as needed.
  • Develop strong skills in collaborating with the business and other IT teams to provide guidance around application functionality, develop a strong understanding of business use cases, identify and develop effective test cases and integrated test scenarios, and identify areas of improvement through data integrity, enhancements, upgrades, and/or automation.
  • Develop and determine solutions for application enhancement requests.
  • Enhancing skills in leading business projects and coordinating with outsourced partners where needed.
  • Enhancing knowledge on best practices and processes for software installation and upgrade/patch release management.
  • Provide training to ensure effective support and use of applications and system functions to business and IT resources as needed.
  • Seek higher learning opportunities to ensure thorough understanding of the current, and future, capabilities of all supported applications and systems.
  • Perform more complex configuration and/or script programming to automate business functions.
  • Lead IT and business projects utilizing basic Project Management principles with guidance from supervisor/manager.
  • Enhancing skills in effectively collaborating and communicating with all levels of internal and external resources through public speaking, leading meetings, project write-ups, and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Fulfill department requirements in terms of providing work coverage as business needs require.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Typical Experience

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
