Job Title: OB Tech

Profession: Surgical Services

Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30)

Experience: 2 years required, first-time travelers accepted with strong skills in OB experience.

License: BLS required

Certifications: CST preferred

Must-Have: Candidate must have experience with c-sections, tubal ligations, D&Cs, and emergency hysterectomy. Candidate must be able to work with low-risk c-sections.

Description: The OB Tech will work in both the Labor and Delivery area and the Mother/Baby unit. Must be competent to assist as a surgical tech with c-sections, tubal ligations, D&Cs, and emergency hysterectomy. The average daily census is 6, with about 40 deliveries per month. There are 5 rooms and 10 beds in the unit. Patient age range includes adults and neonates/infants. The OB Tech must be able to assist with blood glucose monitoring and hearing screenings. Floating between Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby units is required. Weekend shifts every other weekend and holiday shifts are required as scheduled. On-call shifts are not pre-scheduled. Candidates must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions or special requests. The unit supports interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, and social services. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterilization processes, and infection control practices. This position requires the ability to work as part of a team and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
