Parkers Place - Learning Support Teacher

Probationary - 1.00FTE

Lethbridge School Division is seeking a dedicated and collaborative professional educator to join the team as a Learning Support Teacher within Parker's Place, a specialized division program supporting students in grades 1-5 with complexย learnerย profilesย including cognitive, physical, sensory, and augmentative/alternative communicationย supportย needs.ย

Subjects

Lethbridge School Division is seeking a dedicated and collaborative professional educator to join the team as a Learning Support Teacher within Parker's Place, a specialized division program supporting students in grades 1-5 with complexย learnerย profilesย including cognitive, physical, sensory, and augmentative/alternative communicationย supportย needs. The successful candidate fosters supportive and inclusive learning environments where every learner is viewed as capable and successful. They value relationship-building and collaboration with students, families, staff, and community partners to support student learning and well-being. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible, andย a strong teamย player whoย demonstrates:ย 

  • Strongย understanding ofย foundational literacy and numeracy instruction;ย 
  • Knowledgeย of languageย development, including AAC strategies and systems;ย 
  • An understanding of strategies to support self-regulationย andย social skill development;ย 
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with families;ย 
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks;ย 
  • Previousย experience supporting students with complex learning and medicalย supportย needs (preferred);ย 
  • Previousย teaching experienceย (preferred).ย 

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School

Division who are offered employment must provide:

  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver's licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee's legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
