Position Summary:
Preschool teacher in Preschool Promise Program classroom. Maintains a safe, well-managed, child oriented learning environment. Implements curriculum which demonstrates a developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of the children and families. Ensures, supports, and promotes each child's safety, health, and development in cooperation with their parents.
Ensures classroom and related activities correlate with established Agency goals, objectives and work plans, and are in compliance with Oregon Office of Child Care regulations, Child Outcomes Framework, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), USDA, and other applicable rules.
Essential Functions:
โข Maintain a safe, well-managed, and engaging Preschool Promise classroom environment
โข Plan and implement developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum aligned with program and agency standards
โข Create and implement individualized educational and developmental plans for children
โข Conduct observations, assessments, and required health and developmental screenings
โข Collaborate with families, specialists, and staff to support children with special needs
โข Communicate regularly with parents/guardians through conferences and ongoing engagement
โข Refer families to community resources that support health, mental health, and family well-being
โข Maintain accurate classroom records and required program documentation
โข Participate in case management meetings and program planning activities
โข Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to classroom staff, apprentices, and volunteers
โข Deliver training during pre-service and staff meetings as required
โข Promote safe practices, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable regulations
โข Respond appropriately to emergencies as a Mandatory First Responder
โข Maintain regular and reliable attendance
โข Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
Preschool Promise Teacher C - $22.42- $24.92 hourly
High school diploma, GED, or Diploma de Education Secundaria or higher
AND
โข Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate
Or
โข One year Oregon community college certificate1 in field WITH training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on preschool development.
Preschool Promise Teacher A - $23.99- $26.65 hourly
Associate's degree or higher in
โข Early childhood education or child development WITH additional training or additional certification in early childhood education
Or
โข Any field and coursework equivalent2 to a major relating to early child hood education or child development WITH training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on preschool development.
Preschool Promise Teacher B -$25.67- $28.52 hourly
Bachelor's degree or higher in
โข Early childhood education or child development
Or
โข Any field with coursework equivalent3 to a major relating to early childhood education or child development.
1 Oregon Registry Step 8 or higher per certificate or college courses pathway.
2 Oregon Registry Step 9 or higher per degree or college courses pathway.
3 Oregon Registry Step 10 or higher per degree or college courses pathway.
Metro locations include Washington County and Multnomah County sites.
