Company Description:
St. James Preschool is an outreach ministry of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. It is a warm, loving, play based environment which focuses on academic learning and social and emotional development.

Role Description:
There are several part-time on-site Teacher's Aide positions open for the 2026-2027 School Year in our 2, 3 and 4 Year Old Classrooms. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have obtained a high school diploma. As a teacher's aide at St. James Preschool, you will be responsible for providing a nurturing and educational learning environment for the children, assisting the lead classroom teachers, and implementing engaging activities. You will be working with a team of teachers, and must be a team player! Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to lifting children up to 40 lbs., assisting in snack/lunch duties, help with changing diapers and potty training (2s only), monitoring the children's growth and development, maintaining a safe and clean classroom, communicating with parents about their child's progress.

Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year experience working with children ages 1-5, preferably in a preschool/daycare setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and understanding.
  • Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (required - available as training hours).
  • Must share Christian beliefs (Catholic preferred, but not required).

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and care for all children in a nurturing and respectful manner.
  • Assist in creating a center-based, literacy rich classroom environment.
  • Maintain health and sanitation standards in the classroom.
  • Blend religious education throughout the preschool program.
  • Maintain positive guidance strategies.
  • Maintain attendance records, daily reports and assessments.
  • Participate in orientation, staff meetings, in-service, workshops, safe environment training, continuing education staff development, CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Follow program guidelines based on guidelines provided by the Director of Parish Preschools, Office of Catholic Schools.
  • Check environment on a regular basis to insure quality, health and safety.
  • Care for equipment and supplies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director.

Job Type: Part-time (15-20 hours/week).
