Job description

Description:

The Role

Riff Music School, a performance based music school has an immediate opening for a combination piano / voice teacher (although we will consider candidates who teach either piano or voice). Potential teaching hours are Monday through Thursday 2-9PM and weekends. We’re looking for vibrant, inspiring music teachers who are passionate about connecting with students and bringing music to life. At Riff, we look for engaging musicians who want to share their passion with others. We teach students using the Riff Lesson Curriculum, which uses a fun, song-based approach to teach music in an adaptable way. As a Riff teacher, you’ll be more than an instructor — you’ll be a mentor, motivator, and cheerleader for your students’ journey.

What You’ll Do

  • Teach private, semi-private, and/or group lessons. Some of our teachers may also be hired to coach rock bands and camps, as well as teach our toddler and infant program, Rifflets. In addition to music lessons and performance band coaching, Riff Music School also teaches songwriting, audio engineering, music production, and band management.
  • Inspire students by teaching through the music they love, while weaving in the fundamentals of technique, theory, and creativity.
  • Support students in preparing for performances and recording opportunities that are built into the Riff experience. Teacher experience in performance and studio recording is not required.
  • Create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel supported, motivated, and excited to learn.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to deliver a consistent, high-quality learning experience.
  • Contribute ideas and energy to band programs, camps, and special events when applicable.
  • Model Riff’s core values: People First, Joy in Our Lessons, Kindness Always, Connecting Community, and Growth Without Limits.

About Riff Music School

At Riff Music School, we’re redefining music education. Our state of the art private studios, performance rooms and recording studio offer a comfortable and safe environment for teachers and students alike. Our mission is to make lessons fun-first, song-driven, and inspiring for students of all ages. From private lessons to group classes, band programs, recording studio sessions, and summer camps, we create opportunities for every student to find confidence, creativity, and community through music.

Why Join Riff

  • Join our team of team members and be part of a mission-driven, student-focused music school that’s reshaping how lessons are taught.
  • You teach and we do the rest, including finding students, scheduling, billing and all parent correspondence.
  • Work in a modern, inspiring space with professional-grade instruments and recording studio access.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team of passionate musicians and educators, most of whom are active musicians who perform professionally, write original music, or play in local bands.
  • Flexible scheduling options and teaching hours.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact on students’ lives through music.

Job Type: Part-time up to 30 hours per week.

Benefits:

  • Employee discount
  • Flexible schedule

Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

  • Proficiency in Piano and Voice (although candidates with strong proficiencies in either Piano or Voice will be considered).
  • Previous teaching experience is preferred. Exceptional performers with strong communication skills are encouraged to apply and will receive comprehensive training in the Riff teaching approach.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles, ages, and musical interests.
  • Strong communication skills and a student-first mindset, strong organizational skills.
  • A growth-oriented attitude with a desire to continue developing as a teacher and musician.
