Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the communities served by Travis Credit Union, which include the following counties: Alameda, Colusa, Contra Costa, Merced, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, and Yolo. For hybrid and remote roles, candidates are still required to reside within a commutable distance of our corporate headquarters in Vacaville, California.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm 100% On-Site
Summary: Travis Credit Union (TCU) Security & Safety Specialist primary responsibility is to ensure that TCU's facilities and assets are secure and safe for both employees and members. As a result of the execution of purposely designed programs that encompasses safety, training, inspections, investigations and the administration of physical security needs, the credit union is positioned to support its community and employee engagement programs and services in a secure and safe manner.
Profile:
  • Supports the implementation and administration of security and safety programs for all credit union facilities consistent with state and federal regulations and industry practices.
  • Develops security and safety best practices, resulting in providing advisory guidance to support projects and areas of concern.
  • Supports and implements all credit union safety and security policies, procedures and programs, including but not limited to: security systems, facility access control, assistance with loss investigations (fraud, embezzlement, robbery, ATMs, other threats, and property crimes), and onsite safety.
  • Assesses and promotes safe working conditions to reduce/eliminate workplace accidents and health hazards in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Prepares required reports, supporting documentation and notes associated with safety and security evaluations.
  • Collaborates cross functionally to outline and implement training programs regarding employee safety procedures, accident prevention and security, inclusive of production of education materials.
  • Periodically presents corporate and branch training on safety and loss prevention procedures including robbery, bomb threat, kidnap/hostage, fire evacuation, emergency procedures, etc.
  • Provide support in most all TCU investigations involving employees, members and assets.
  • May act as a TCU liaison with local law enforcement agencies in each facility's jurisdiction to assist business units with evidence and details needed for thorough criminal investigations.
  • Assists in the preservation of evidence, i.e., videos, photos, reports, data, and other related elements for investigative needs.
  • Communicates findings of any investigation to affected management leadership levels.
  • Communicates any threats and safety concerns to management leadership levels for affected branch locations.

Skills:
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirement, evacuation procedures, investigative techniques, as well as federal and state laws which apply to bank and/or credit union crime.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Investigative experience with fraud, theft, robbery, embezzlement and/or related crimes.
  • Working knowledge relating to the application and operation of security systems.
  • Self-starter, perform well under tight deadlines, requires minimal supervision in completing tasks and objectives.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making techniques; provides solutions for consideration.
  • Service oriented and team player.
  • Has the ability to be flexible and employ discretion.
  • Is empathetic when engaging with employees and members; consistently demonstrates trust, respect, and genuine concern.
  • Continuous learner.
  • Excellent situational awareness skills; properly assesses aspects of both routine and complex situations. Quickly determine and employ appropriate course of action.
  • Effectively negotiates with vendors to service physical security systems, such as alarm and camera systems.
  • Vendor management service experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to professionally interact with all levels of staff, vendors and law enforcement agencies.

Reporting and Experience:
  • Reports directly to the Supervisor/Manager, Security & Safety.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree or Certified Professional Training in related field is desired.
  • Minimum 1 year of previous professional security or law enforcement experience.

Compensation:
Security & Safety Specialist -Grade10 / Non-Exempt/ $25.57 - $31.58./hr
